Harlan's Nail & Spa in Harlan, IA

I've gone here my whole life and never had problems up until this year. Mine and my family's nails break, without fail, within a week of getting them done. It never fails that we have to go back to get a nail redone due to breaking, cracking, or chipping. The nails don't seem like they last as long as they used to. When we go in to get them done initially, they take forever to get you sat in a chair. It seems like they overbook anymore. When they finally get to our turn, they always over file our nails, sending a sharp burning jolt up my arm making it jerk away from the worker. They then pull my hand back without even asking what is wrong. Moving on to applying a new set of dip nails. After 20 minutes of scraping, aggressive filing, and many burning cuts from the file, they finally move on to putting on my new color. I pick out my color and it seems like most of the time it doesn't match the dip swatches. After applying one layer of dip they ask if the color is okay. THE COLOR THAT THE DIP IS WHEN APPLYING THE FIRST COAT ISN'T WHAT IT COMES OUT TO BE!!! I'm currently wearing what was supposed to be a dusty pink that is in reality straight up pink. Not only are they constantly checking their phone while working, they make you feel like a straight up inconvenience. I haven't had smooth nails in a few months because they don't take the time to completely file them after applying dip. My nails are constantly different lengths, despite them eyeballing them and proceeding to cut them multiple times.
I, along with my family, are tired of seeming like an inconvenience to the workers. We will no longer be going back.

Have gone several  times and have been pleased. This time was not good, started off receptionist was very rude, the whole time we felt like we were inconveniencing them. Got the shellac and 3 days later polish is chipping.

If I could give this place a lower rating I would. I went in for the second time. 2 weeks ago I got acrylics done and they looked amazing, at first. A day after I got them I noticed that the tips they put on were too small for my fingers and they were a tiny bit crooked. Today I went back to get them filled. I ended up just taking them off and was gonna have a full new set put on. I went in 15 minutes early and I don't get helped until 10 minutes after my appointment. They had 7 appointments scheduled at 3 pm today and only three "nail technicians" when I finally got helped I showed the girl helping me what i would like put on my nails. Simple enough. She started out fine files and buffed the nails. Then she started on the tips. she glued them on. I looked and three of them were beyond crooked. I asked her to fix them so she took them off and re glued them on. Perfect. They started filing and I was going for a coffin shape. They were super wide I then asked if they could make them thinner towards the top of the tip. They couldn't because the tips they glued on were too small. I then looked at the and notice the very top of the tip that is supposed to be straight horizontal above the finger, were crooked as well. This place is a joke and I will never go back. I ended up having them take them off and just left.

Had a manicure done here about 3 weeks ago and it was done very nice the nails were shaped well and I had ladybug nail art done and it was absolutely darling. Got lots of compliments on it and I will definitely be back. My only negative comment is that there was a bit of a language barrier.  I think if the folks would have spoken louder and slower it would have helped. Will definitely be back and will tell my friends.

It's been years since I've had acrylic nails done so I thought I'd give them a try again for my sister's upcoming wedding. Overall I'm pretty pleased with my nails a few of them look to be a bit crooked. But it's nothing terrible. Not sure if I will go back again or not. They are very busy it seems luckily we did not have to wait but I saw other people come in the door and they were left waiting 22-30 minutes after they had already made an appointment.
