Hair Secrets in Greeley, CO

Listened to what I wanted instead of what the stylist thought would look good!

I went to Anna for a cut having been dissatisfied with literally every haircut I had for the previous 3 years...I was absolutely thrilled with what she did!! So I immediately made an appointment to come back for a color and highlight which also turned out fabulous!  Getting ready to go back for my touch up and sooo happy that I have finally found a stylist I can call mine! Getting appts are quick, leave a message and she will call you back! Not sure about the other stylists...but I highly recommend Anna!

Although the salon posts that they accept walk in business I didn't feel that we received a very warm welcome.  The shop is small and tight and unfortunately very dated, unorganized, unprofessional and honestly....dirty.  Food was visible and the manager even ate at the desk in front of everyone.  On the positive side I received a decent haircut and it was a very decent price but I never got the young lady's name.

I've been getting my hair cut by David since I moved to Colorado-- nearly 5 years now.  If you ask for him here you will NOT be disappointed. His work is very meticulous and precise.  He does a beautiful job with long layers and was the first hairdresser to cut bangs for me that I loved.

Lately, I have been adventurously visiting a number of hair stylists, hair salons, and hair cutters. Alas, for though I did search, I could find no "barber". Are those trained men's hair-masters now extinct? Pity.

Most recently, on a warm day in February, Hair Secrets was the establishment blessed with my challenge.  "Do you cut men's hair?"  "Yes." Filled with expectant joy, I nestled down on the outdated barber's chair.  I'm sorry, folks, but I've gotten to the point, that by feeling how the hair-cutter handles and snips at my hair, I get a pretty accurate picture of how it is going to turn out.  The way my hair was being handled, and the action of the scissors seemed "off" somehow. It is with deep regret I report that my prediction proved true.

"Just a quarter inch here," I had instructed, "and an inch here."  "A little extra off the back," I elaborated, "but leave a little covering the ears."  I sat in stoic silence as my beautiful locks were treated.

So now there are two things to say. First, more of my hair was cut off than I had asked to have cut off. I said a quarter inch to an inch. Over two inches were removed from some spots.  Second, my hair is tiered.  Who wants tiered hair!  (If you do, go here.)  I went in with my hair shaped, blended, but slightly long, and left looking like the eighth Dwarf,  "Choppy".   I was pretty disappointed.

I went to a barber school once. I got a great discount for my haircut, but it did not look all that good.  That was okay, because I knew beforehand what I was getting into - greenhorn barbers, residents in training, experimentation.  Plus I got a discount.  But Hair Secrets  is not a barber school, and did not give me a discount.

I would say that you might be dissatisfied if you go to Hair Secrets for a man's haircut. On the other hand, I cannot say what the quality of care for women's hair there is. So if you are a woman, go ahead and try them out, and then write a review in Yelp.

(Maybe i should wear a baseball cap till it grows back.)
