Great Clips in Morgantown, WV

While I think there are some really good stylists that work here, I've had one less than stellar and one truly awful experience back-to-back. Both times there were some good points along with the bad.

The first visit probably earned 3.5 stars. I was happy with my haircut and felt that my stylist cared about doing a good job. However, my younger daughter was donating her hair. She went from very long hair to really short, which is not what she wanted. She wanted to donate about 10-11 inches. Instead, she donated 14 inches. That's a big difference! We had explained very carefully to the stylist what we wanted before her hair was cut including that she wanted her hair to reach her shoulders (I even showed her how long). I think it was an honest mistake, but the stylist should have apologized to my daughter and possibly offered some comfort and reassurance that she still had a cute style (and it was nicely done despite the length). The salon also gave her the cut for free as she was donating her hair. I thought that was really nice, and made sure that the stylist who cut her hair received a tip despite the error. However, my daughter was rather upset for a few days.

Second experience gets zero stars. We arrived on a weeknight when they were overly busy. So our stylist was understandably a bit stressed and trying to move clients through. The only plus side, was that she got us in ahead of the line as no one on the waiting list was there when she was ready. At first I thought this was really kind of her. But then she cut both my and my younger daughter's hair. She didn't care at all. She literally took three minutes to cut my hair and possibly two minutes to cut my daughter's. I had to ask her to adjust part of my hair that I noticed was wrong, which she did. It was obvious that she was annoyed by my request. I should have stayed longer to check her work, but opted to leave as I felt like she was pushing us out of her chair so she could move on to the next customer. I realized the true horror of our haircuts when we got home. I think Great Clips will correct a bad haircut if you go back right away. However, it was too late to return to the salon that evening, and there was no way I could get there for at least a week due to my work schedule. My daughter has a sharp line of hair cut shorter that the rest on one side of her head, her bangs were uneven, and so was the back. I ended up trimming her hair to make it even but was worried about creating an even worse situation if I tried to blend in the short hair. We still haven't gotten it fixed as she emphatically said no when I recommended that we go to a different salon. She has only had two "real" cuts in her life. Since both cuts weren't what she wanted, it's going to take some convincing to let anyone cut her hair again. I was able to even up my hairstyle a bit too but was very unhappy with how it looked. I was stuck with it while it grew out enough to fix it. We will not be returning to this salon.

Had a great experience here. It was literally just me in there and Mirissa cut my hair. Being a truck driver I haven't stopped in 5 months to get my hair cut and she did a great job. We all just sat in there and talked. The ladies were very fun to be around and an absolute blast and made my day.
