Great Clips in Cayce, SC

My boyfriend and I went to great clips in cayce on Sunday so my boyfriend could get a haircut. He has gone there on numerous occasions and had great haircuts. We both have a very busy work schedule and Sundays are really the only day we are available to do anything. We came in around 1 and he got seated pretty quickly. He specifically told his stylist Resa that he wanted 1 inches on the side and back and 2 inches on the top. She seemed confused by this and asked him multiple times what he meant. If you don't know how to do a hairstyle please let someone else do it! we would have gladly waited for someone who knew what they were doing! Instead of going slowly and asking if this was okay or if he wanted more cut off etc she just decides she's going to completely shave his whole head which is NOT what he asked for. It made us both so upset and my boyfriend was so embarrassed. It will grow back obviously but it was such a big shock and we were not happy AT ALL! she never asked how he liked it or if it was done correctly or anything! she barely said a word to him! it was $15 for the cut and he still graciously tipped her. We were not happy and will not be back, at least when she is working.

Over the years of going to great clips, I've never had any problems with haircuts. They've always done exactly what I wanted. This past Friday I decided to go to this location, I have long hair and wanted long layers and bangs. No idea what her name is, all I know is she's young and has short black hair. Well she started with my bangs I showed her a pic and I'm that pic her bangs were about to her eyelids. She said ok and started cutting. She cut them a little above my eyebrows. I was livid at that point I knew I couldn't go back. They were also crooked. I also told her they were way too short and they were crooked and all she said was OK. When she got done cutting my hair, she showed me with a mirror and it was very choppy so I asked her to blend them in more and she did but when she showed me again it looked the same. So when she went back to do it again she had to ask another man to help her because she couldn't do it. We'll long story short I left that place looking absolutely ridiculous and they still made me pay. I went home and had to fix my bangs myself. This is what I wanted and this is what I received...

I went once back in May 2022 and I was given a great haircut. This time around, however, I received a subpar haircut by Reva. She clearly was confused to what she was doing and called over two different workers to help her fix her mistake (which she never called her mistake. I dont claim to be an expert on cutting hair, but I'd imagine I am the biggest expert on how my own hair looked.) Reva shaved part of my hair too deep (or too far back) and then tried to tell me my hairline was just like that. I said maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but it wasn't that uneven before this haircut began, so either way, please even it up. This is the point when I realized she was maybe not the best person to have cutting hair because she said she didn't know how to make it even. One of the other workers ended up trying to fix her mistake, and it's passable. It's a good thing I care relatively little what I look like, but as important as it is to look presentable in the real world, I am not sure I'll be back to this location for a haircut. If I am, I certainly will not want her to cut my hair again

The rating still gets 3 stars though because my first appointment in May was fine, and because the facility is clean. Scheduling is seamless and the waits aren't long.

Just taking the minute to write a review about how this Great Clips fair to other chains or competitors. In terms of professional demeanor, everyone I've encountered here the last five months are kind, friendly, and dedicated to giving you the best haircut possible. There definitely is a difference is skill between some of the stylist, so I am wary of who I get. This isn't like Sports clips where you can select your stylist on the app. When you walk in, unless you specifically request, you get who's next available, which isn't the best in terms of continuity for your hair cuts.
They do have an app, so utilize it to avoid long wait times, but Saturdays are the worst when it comes to wait lines with an average time easily exceeding an hour!
The gentleman who works there with the beard is the best holistically in my opinion. He doesn't work fast, but he ensures you look the best, so I see it more as quality over quantity of clients. There were numerous times where we made adjustments on the cut and held up the line, but he ensured I looked the best. Love customer dedication like that and I definitely recommend him.
Overall experiences have been good. I think in 5 months I've got only one hair cut where I went home a little annoyed. Luckily my hair grows back fairly quickly to try again the following week.

Pam's at it again! Did a super great job. Checked in online and no waiting. I got one of those close on the sides comb over cuts so I look like I could play a bartender in a speakeasy. Today we talked about Siegfried & Roy and their documentary and how wild it must be to go see a Vegas show in the early nineties and just seeing Siberian tigers lounging around all the while not a soul has signed a waiver.
I also need to say literally anyone could give me this haircut but I'm coming back for the human conversation and how nice it is to chat about whatever. So if you're a manager or a narc reading my last review about how we talked about vintage drug prevalence and old holly wood like- Jesus Christ. Go do something better with your life- free speech and GAY RIGHTS. Love Pam and I will be back.
