Great Clips is a basic discount salon that does basic cuts and the occasional perm. The prices are low and walk-ins are welcome. I do suggest checking in on the app prior to going for expedited service. I've been going to the location on Ewalt Rd for years. I always went to one person and I was very happy. Recently the Ewalt studio merged with the Hampton location. Today when I went I found that my stylist no longer works there. Since I was only getting my bangs cut I figured I may as well stay and have someone else cut them. Big mistake. After telling her I don't want them too short and that they should be long and fringy. They next thing I know my bangs look like a five year old cut them. They are VERY short and on top of that they are crooked. I can't even them out because they will just get shorter. On top of that it now costs $8 for a bang trim instead of $5. My hair is low maintenance so I was happy to be saving money by coming here. Now I'm not so sure. I may give them another try when I am ready for an all over trim and see what happens. I will update if I do. As much as I'm sure you would love a picture, my dignity won't allow me.
I took my daughter to get a hair cut at your Great Clips today. She wanted about 3 inches cut off. We sat in MaryAnne's chair and explained and showed her what we wanted. I even stayed to watch her make the first cut (about an inch below the chin). I then went and sat down, trusting that the hair cut would be as explained. I was wrong. When I went to check in on my daughter I saw that her hair was now cut up to her lips. And to make matters worse, it was very choppy. My daughter was in tears. When I questioned her about the length, she said it was "shrinkage". That is just a lie. I know my daughters straight hair, and it does not shrink 2.5 inches. I then questioned why is was so choppy. MaryAnne said that she would fix that, but also said that in order to fix it, her hair would be even shorter. Another hair stylist stepped in when she saw how upset my daughter and I were and fixed her hair as best as she could. We were not charge (and believe me, I wouldn't have paid anyways). I was also offered a gift certificate, but I turned it down because we will NEVER be back. The woman who fixed my daughters hair said that MaryAnne messes up quite often. If MaryAnne wasn't comfortable cutting girls hair, then she should tell people. I would have gladly waited for another stylist. This woman should not be cutting anyone's hair. I've never seen my daughter so upset before and I don't blame her. Instead of getting 3 inches cut off, she had close to 6.
Entered as a "walk-in"......nobody else in the waiting area. Both stylists were cutting clients' hair but I was told just a couple minutes. A short time later, people started to file in. To make a long story short, they continued to take people in who signed up "online" over a warm body that has been sitting in the building. And before you roll your eyes..yes I'm familiar with this process, but in a business such as Supercuts it "checks you in"...it does not book you in front of customers that are already there. I sat there for 30+mins with three customers going ahead of me. This is a TERRIBLE business model and goes completely against common sense. Never again.
