GLOWstudios in Ashburn, VA

Every time i went to glow i had a pretty bad experience with the front desk/admin side. I've gone for numerous haircuts and colors (which i loved every time) and my eyebrows (which i also loved) but the front desk is atrocious and rude. And the vibe all around the salon is awkward and uncomfortable. None of the stylists aside from the one helping me seemed happy or friendly. One day i was getting my hair washed and the front desk girl came back and demanded she run my card before the service was completed because she had to leave. It was Saturday at like 2 pm! Super unprofessional. Other times I've waited for my appointment time and I've listened to some of the girls talk about their love/sex life aloud while I sat there not noticed. I've even had either the manager or owner help me check out once and she had no clue what she was doing. My stylist left and I'm following her. I've even been there and they didn't have any shampoo!!! They also offer med spa services which is extremely concerning seeing as it's not that clean and there's NO medical professional on site or even listed on their website. This place is shady as hell

I have never been treated so rudely in my life by Gretchen the Manager. they raised the price of a haircut and highlight by $75 and didn't say a word to me till I was home and noticed that it was $100 more with a tip! thinking I was paying the old price as usual. I've been going there for years! she then told me i should of noticed the new prices on the web sight (which I did when I got home and they were not accurate either! 2 months goes by and I call to ask to talk to my stylist because previously she turned my hair white with highlighting it and I wanted to know what the plan would be and how much it would cost. GretChen said she's busy I said well whenever she gets a chance she can call me. she then said NO IM HANDLING IT AND SHE WONT BE CALLING U BACK AND HUNG UP. no goodbye nothing. I then called to speak to the owner a dozen times and once again got told she doesn't call people back . what kind of place does that to a customer that's been a good customer for years?! they bought a new place and expect people to pay for it! let me tell you I found a wonderful stylist for alot cheaper that is even better ! THANKYOU GLOW STUDIOS CAUSE MY HAIR NEVER LOOKED BETTER ! he doesn't highlite the pieces of hair to the ends he does just the root . also he doesn't need to use toner because he doesn't over process your hair to HAVE TO USE TONER ! amazing the things you learn . ! glow studios is a rip off , their stylists leave product on ur hair too long while they are busy with the next customer then charge more for toner ! rudest salon EVER !

Hair cuts are decent quality here, but this place is run like a complete s show. They called me the day before my appointment to tell me they're migrating to a new system and that it shouldn't have allowed me to book the time I did. At my next appointment about 4 months later, the same thing happened. And they increased their prices 150% without any communication. Other signs this place isn't well run are that their washing machine isn't commercial quality so it flooded and they moved their location next door but didn't think to tell me that when they called to reschedule my appointment.

I had my hair done here three times. It always comes out looking great but the reason I'm updating this review is because after two months the situation still bothers me. The last time I went in, when I called for the appointment, the lady on the phone suggested that she block out the time for a dimensional color so that whatever I chose I would have enough time to get my hair done. I told her that I probably wanted balayage and she said that just in case she would block out even more time by putting a dimensional color to give me enough time. That total service did not take that long and it still looked great but when I checked out, Kara went up and told her to still charge me for dimensional color which is more expensive. I don't know why I didn't say anything then but it has nagged at me for the last couple of months. Just be honest people, I work hard for my money too.

Edited to add: Now that the weather and humidity have decreased, I decided to retry the CurlyWorld products sold to me (but not used at) the salon. They still don't work for me. What a waste of money. It would have been nice if she would have used the same products on me she wanted to sell me! So strange...
