Gatzby Salon in Georgetown, TX

So my daughter treated me to a haircut by Faviana. Best haircut ever! This was a gift for my 78th birthday. You will love these two hairstylists, Faviana and her husband are a dynamic duo! Faviana is the definition of a stylist!

I love Laura and Gatzby. I have curly hair that few can cut well, and even though my hair has wanted to go gray since I was 25, I refuse to let it happen. That was at least 5 yrs ago! When I first moved to Georgetown more than a decade ago, I found Laura and I've never had any reason to go to anybody else. She, too, has curly hair, so she understands how it works. And I swear she has a Ph.D. in color chemistry! I was so glad when Laura opened Gatzby. It's an eclectic, comfortable salon with really nice people and a convenient location. There's chatting, good music, quick and thorough service, and hairdressers who work with people of all sorts - including my husband! Plus, one of my favorite things is the smell, which I'm really sensitive to. Laura is a total clean freak, so the place should stink of bleach and hair color, but it NEVER smells in Gatzby. Quite simply, Gatzby is a great place to spend some time and get your hair done.

This salon is adorable and everyone is so sweet. I had the most amazing haircut with Tony. He doesn't do color, only cuts, but he is amazing. He is super goofy and off the wall, which is awesome, but add that to the most amazing haircut I've had, and we've got a winner! I didn't have to bring a picture or explain anything, he knew what I needed, I trusted it, and it was amazing. So happy I've found my hair person!!

The stylist spent a lot of time telling me how bad my hair looked and how it looks unbalanced for my body. Apparently there is only one acceptable hair length a woman can have. He kept trying to convince me to cut it half the length it was. Then, he wouldn't hear what I wanted as far as cut style. He just kept repeating that with my hair that long anything would look bad and that I couldn't style it. I left with a $100 blunt trim. I think the stylist just didn't know how to cut long hair, as I booked an appointment with Razmataz salon the next day and got a beautiful face framing cut with a light layer that was exactly what I wanted, and it didn't make my hair look thin. I definitely do not recommend Gatzby for long haired women. The venue itself is nice and cozy, however.

I want to start by stating that I never write a bad review for someone but in this case I am making an exception. I went to a fabulous hair stylist for years until she decided to stop working to concentrate on her family. Therefore, I had to find another hair stylist. I thought I did my due diligence. I made a big mistake. I booked an appointment with Faviano Cano at Gatzby Salon for March 1st. I actually did like her as she was very personable. But, I am not paying for her personality. I have blonde hair that I take care of. It was way too long so needed a good haircut and high / low lights. I was very specific in what I needed and advised my hair could not tolerate heat or going under a hair dryer. As you all know, when a stylist is mixing the formula you have no idea what the actual color is. I will jump to the end result. There were two black stripes about 3/4 inch in width on either side of my part. If you were to look at my hair on the inside of my face it was a solid dull brown. Most importantly it was fried! My healthy, shiny blonde hair was now a fried brown mess. I was devastated. I'll get to the cut later. On March 2nd I sent Faviana a text message stating my disapproval. She offered for me to come back and she would recolor my hair. I declined. I did not want her touching my hair again to further ruin it. She blamed the end result on me spraying 'Sun In' on my hair months ago. There were other various excuses. She offered to credit back the $324. to my credit card. A week later I looked at my credit card account online and the $324. was not posted so I filed a dispute. I did remind her that my account showed she had not credited the $324. She told me she had and stated "in these modern times it takes time for a credit to appear". 3 weeks later there still was not a credit. Fortunately, the credit card company did rule in my favor and they did credit my account. In the meantime, I used all of my Olaplex products to try to restore my hair. I tried argan oil, hot oil treatments and nothing worked. I called my previous hairdresser to see if she would help me restore my hair. On 16 March I went to her house and she took one look at my hair and was appalled. She even took photo's of the back to show me how bad the coloring was. She told me it would take the rest of the year to restore my hair and she was limited in what she could do for high/low highlighting my hair as she did not want to damage it further. She also said I would need to have it cut to start getting rid of the fried hair. While trimming the ends she told me my hair was cut at an angle at the back and in the front cut in "blocks". She had never seen such a bad haircut. She has agreed to take care of my hair in the future which I sincerely am thankful for. I would not have written this review had I received the $324. as she promised so I feel that I was lied to, received a horrible color, over processed my hair AND received an awful cut!
