Expressions Beauty Salon in Santa Maria, CA

Booked with Karis for a wedding party which included 5 girls who had a range of hairstyle ideas. Karis took very good care of us and had all our hair done in a timely manner. Super attentive and friendly! We were also all EXTREMELY happy with how our hair turned out. The curls, waves, and hair jewelry lasted a night full of dancing and fun! The salon is very cute, super clean, and had festive holiday decoration(my favorite)! We came all the way to Santa Maria from Los Angeles and 10/10 highly recommend Karis for any hairstyle services!

I took a chance on Yadi Palomar and was so happy I did. She gave me the most perfect cut. I was worried when I came into the shop but she showed right away that she is a true professional.

I'm extremely disappointed, to say the least. A complete waste of 3 hours and $280. I had heard great things about Expressions Beauty Salon, and liked the pictures on their stylists' social media pages. I had been wanting for a long time to dye my hair back to blonde, so I booked an appointment with Karli for a balayage hair coloring. I showed her pictures of what I was looking for, and she got started. When she finished, my hair looked nothing like the images I had shown her. She assured me it would lighten up in two to three weeks, once the toner washed out. Three weeks later, when my hair was still much darker than we had discussed, I called to ask if there was anything I could do to lighten it myself. She said no, and that I would need to come in for additional treatments. I asked for a partial refund, since I'm not able to spend more time and money to have it fixed (not to mention that my hair is already damaged from the dye and my scalp hurt for at least 3 days after the first session). She told me she would talk to the owner and get back to me. When I hadn't heard from her two days later, I contacted the owner myself and sent him pictures to show the discrepancy. Anthony said he could not refund my money, that it was up to Karli. I feel like they are both trying to skirt the blame, and neither the stylist nor shop owner are taking responsibility for the fact that they provided a poor service.

Completely unprofessional! Scheduled an appointment with Anthony at 4:30, I get a text message from him asking if I could come in at 3:10. I get there at 3:10 take a seat in his waiting area and wait for him to become available since he was washing someone's hair at the time. At about 3:25 he sends me a text message saying "come back at 4". Did not have the courtesy to tell me to my face knowing I was sitting in his waiting room. It was such a waste of my time. Absolutely none of the staff there even greeted me or acknowledged when I walked it they looked at me as I was completely ignored. Never going there again!

Karis is my hair stylist at Expression. She is extremely knowledgeable in her craft. She listen to my requests/concerns and then does something magical with my hair. I have dark brown hair and have been highlighting it for years. My hair looks healthy and shiny after my visits. The salon is trendy and has a great vibe! I always look forward the scalp massage when she washes my hair!!
