My time is valuable...apparently I'm the only one that thinks so. Scheduled an appointment and showed up 15 minutes before the appointment time and ended up waiting almost an hour before even being seen. It was nothing short of a cattle call. I believe the appointments are just a loose suggestion, but not taken seriously. I canceled and left due to the excessive time commitment needed to even be seen!
I was scheduled for an iridotomy with Dr Patel. I was not provided with any type of pre surgical instructions, I had no idea what to expect or if I needed to prepare. I received no call the day prior to procedure to provide any details. I went there thinking okay, they will give me something for nerves and numb my eye. After waiting 40min, it was told we are doing the right eye today, they put one drip of solution in my right eye. The assistant, whom was very pleasant and kind, lined my eye up with the machine. I was told to hold still and he was going to shoot the laser. Well, I have never been able to keep my eye open when something is coming towards it. I have always had difficulty getting eye pressures. I told them this at the pre-op appt. Dr Patel made one attempt slammed his hands on his knees stood up and told his assistant to cancel the appointment!! And stormed out. The assistant looked she'll shocked, I was shocked and should have left. I should have found a new provider. But, the assistant said there are a couple other options if you'd like to try. I said well since I'm here okay, they tried putting a lense in my eye to keep it open, again didn't work. Dr Patel was furious; his exact words, well I guess we will just wait until the pressure in your eyes close up and you can't see; you won't have any other options then. Again he storms out. The assistant says we can do a nerve block, I'm sobbing by this time. My anxiety was already at an all time high upon arrival, then to be treated like garbage and belittled made it worse. The nurse came in saw me crying and the assistant said, well he was just so mean to her, "YOU KNOW HOW HE IS!!! Not acceptable at all!! Why I stayed I can't even explain. So the block was done and he was able to get a small hole in my eye, but he informed me I would most likely need to have it redone since I can't keep my eyes open. Prior to the nerve block the Dr informed me of how painful a block will be, repeatedly. I said I'm well aware what a block feels like, but I apparently don't have a choice, I can't keep my eye open while you shoot a laser at it. That worked but he said "well I barely got a small hole in, you'll most likely have to do it again. That's it, walks out. I left with 3 appt cards, again no post op instructions. No drops Nothing. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!! If you have any type of eye issues run far away from Ohio Eye Specialists. The Circleville office staff was short and quick with everyone, this place is a meat marke, the nurse, Vickie and assistant Kelly are gems! Kind hearted and I'm sure deserve a better employer!! If he speaks to patients that pay his salary like he did me, I can only imagine how his staff is treated!!! News flash Dr Patel, I and your other patients pay your salary! We deserve respect. You are not doing us a favor. We are paying you for a service. I will be filing a report with my insurance company and the medical board. I hope he is removed from Cigna coverage.
