Chopping Block in Cumberland, RI

No receptionist but worth playing phone answering machine tag for a week. The service was good! ...quick, what I wanted, friendly conversation, prices are average/compatible, the owners dog greets you, close parking in lot, overheard pleasant personal conversation between stylist and repeat customers.

I came here due to a deal I saw on Groupon. I loved it! Andrea was great, and did an amazing job on my hair. I have seen complaints about the décor etc. however, I could care less as long as I don't leave the salon crying. I was looking for a new "person" as I have had way too many horror stories with my hair. I actually liked the atmosphere because it felt laid back and not so "uppity" Also, as a dog lover, I was so excited when I saw the dog, and he was nothing but sweet and loving. I saw someone posted about the dog attacking them at the door, which surprises me because the dog was the one who greeted me wanted to be pet when I walked in...While I was there someone else went in there with a Groupon...Just a tip for people...TIP BASED ON THE FULL PRICE OF THE SERVICE! Not just the Groupon Price. Businesses actually take a big hit when they use Groupon and you already got a discount, so TIP RIGHT!

Upon arriving I was greeted at the door by a dog and was told to sit tight for my appointment in which I was not taken until 30 minutes after my appointment time. While waiting I should have heeded the warning signs of a dirty salon and the womans hair getting cut before mine to be crooked! I had already purchased a Groupon, in which my stylist completed all the parts to. I asked for a trim and she informed me she was going to cut off a bit more (which I needed and was fine with) what I was not fine with is the CHOPPY and uneven layers and angles she gave me. Typically I don't get upset with haircuts because hey it's hair and it grows back but I seriously have never left a salon this dissatisfied before to the point where I put my choppy hair into a pony tail and put a hat on. My hair was so butchered. The salon was dirty and unorganized, dirty towels every where and stained dingy towels being used on clients, stylists complaining of Misplaced tools. The only reason I gave this review a 2 was because at least my stylist was very kind, but if you're one to be easily upset by a hair cut/salon experience AVOID this place

I hate to even give this place one star.  I had scheduled a Groupon Mani-Pedi in advance for June 23rd.  The salon went on vacation without notifying me.  I left two messages to please contact me regarding the situation and continued throughout that day trying to reach someone.  No one ever bothered to call me back.  When I contacted them one week later, the very rude woman on the phone never bothered to apologize or give an explanation of what happened.  All she asked was if I want to reschedule.  I stated back why would I want to if no one had the decency to call me back initially.  She then hung up the phone on me.  How completely unprofessional is that behavior.  As I had said in another review, do not waste your time with this place.  Read all the negative reviews and believe them.

Wish I could give 0 stars. Honestly, went to this place because of a groupon. Could not even find it for about 10 minutes because they had taken the street sign off. Went in to the owners crazy dog attacking me at at the door; like the rest of these reviews confirm, the place was very dingy and unclean. The hairdressers were very nice but don't ask them to do anything too advanced. I asked for an ombre and she did take her time with the foils and shampooing/conditioning my hair after. However, she had an appointment right after me and told me she did not have time to blow dry and style my hair, which I'm pretty sure was included in the groupon. I went back home and dried/straightened my own hair and was embarresed with what I saw; it was very jagged and not blended at all, basically looked like the appearance you have when your highlights are growing out. I have never done this before but I called back and asked if I could come back in and have the hairdresser fix it. She was very nice about redoing it but could not understand what was clearly so wrong with it, and that just blew my mind. I basically just asked her to dye it back the way it was and that was that. Obviously I am never coming back here for any kind of dye/highlighting job.
