you just don't know how hard it is for a woman of color to find a hairstylist that actually knows and appreciates black hair.

I have gone to multiple hairstylist over the last three years due to the lack of professional skills such; as integrity, communication, empathy, & overpriced hairstyles.

prior to Covid I tried to get an appointment but she was totally booked and then Cove it happened and I could never get in.

now I saw her at my People's market back in August was able to make an immediate connection and she booked my appointment on the spot.

She was punctual, sanitizing practices were on point, parking is good, quality of products is top notch, not to mention the vibes of good energy that radiates throughout her business and her hands.

This by far has been one of the best haircare experiences that I have had in years being that my hair was dull, damaged & mis- shaped from another stylist 6wks ago.

I grateful to be able to leave this salon happy, in a good mood  it's worth the value.

Reminder her business has been around for longer than 10 years... I definitely recommend seeing a beauty expert if you are new to Portland or looking for a new hairstylist

Every time I have my hair done here, I come out looking like a celebrity.  I am not sure how you do it but making time for me after hours and still giving the five star service, you are amazing!

Did a horrible job on my hair messed it up bad.  I have to wait 3 months before I can get it.  Knew I was going out of town instead of saying she didn't know how to do it took my money and messed up my hair.  Very disappointed

First of all I am new to the region so I was trying several salons.  Yes I went back twice because it wasn't done right the first time nor was it done right the second time.  I came back A week later because that's when I was scheduled.  And as far as going back there that was never my intention.  I will continue to look for someone who knows how to do Geri curls.

She killed my self confidence by ruining my hair.

I'm a 4c and for once in my life I wanted have hair that shined and moved in the wind. For months, I read reviews and contact multiple natural hair stylists before I tracked down a stylist in Portland Or, and asked if she could provide the services I needed. Of course she said yes and with her reviews I made the assumption that she was true to her word. After sitting in a chair for six hours, I endured a relaxer that burned the skin off my neck, a bleaching of my hair, and then a hair dying process. She told me that my hair was going to be fine and that it would soften with time and OH if I bought some of her product that might help too - but wasn't fine. It was hard and crunchy, lifeless and burnt. My hair looked like the world's stiffest wig. When I called the stylist she told me that there was nothing she could for me, that she felt that I was having buyer's remorse and she didn't do refunds. So I spent $300.00 with Chadowbox, my hair was lifeless, my neck was killing me and she wound not help me. I went to another stylist who told me that my hair shouldn't have been processed so harshly and that she surprised it hadn't fallen out. And then I spent another 100 dollars to different stylist who had me condition my hair and then so she could set a wig on top of it. In the heat the wig did not last long  and so then I spent another 100 dollars to a stylist for a deep conditioning treatment.  My entire life is judged on my appearance, and I am so ashamed and embarrassed that I don't go out any more, I don't date any more. I do my best to cover my hair, go to work and try not damage my hair anymore than it is.  My natural curls are gone. My whole self of self is ruined. I wouldn't have my worse enemy suffer like I do.

First time coming to the salon, I was greeted. The was made sure I knew I was only there because of my friend and that a favor was being done for me. Even though like everyone else I went online placed an appointment for a trim and hairstyle that was easy to manage while on the go. And the appointment was accepted. I expressed I did not like heat applied to my hair. The the washing of the hair was nice, then conditioner was nice, I thought was part of the friendliness because my friend invited me. Then I got my hair blow dried, then with my back facing away from the mirror I guess so I could talk to my friend, I did not see that she was getting ready to straighten my hair. It was not until my ear got singed that I realized she was straightening my hair. She said it was to get a better idea with what she was working with. Having been to late, I let her do my whole head. When charged, I was charged for what I DID NOT signed up for, hair trim and on the go hair style keeping my hair natural , I was charged close to $100.  For a salon that is supposed to be service focused I did not feel heard, and felt appalled at the price I was charged than what I was expecting, considering how all the extra services was NOT what I had asked for.  Nothing was asked in what I wanted. Not feeling comfortable in confronting my friends hairstylist. I came to this salon because of a trusted friend who has had great experiences here, she gets her hair straightened with keratin and she looks great. My hair looked very silky straight when I left. Charlisa does great with straightening hair either with keratin or a hair straightener.  My opinions about my own hair did not seem to matter however. If you have curly hair I suggest finding a salon that is focused around curly hair. And respects your wishes.
