Twice as expensive as I'm used to ($50) and took a long time, but there's cool art to look at that she made and the haircut was a bit better than average. Make sure to pick a topic of conversation that interests you, and dont have anywhere you have to be soon, because you'll be talking for quite a while. I think she spent 3/4 of the time just talking and 1/4 of the time talking while also cutting my hair lol Not really the vibe for me, but it depends on how you are and what you want at a haircutting place. This is probably a great place for people who really appreciate and want that old fashioned feel of the barber who has a long conversation with you, but otherwise I don't know if I'd suggest it

Carla is amazing and has years of experience. I highly recommend her and she is very nice. I just left the shop looking fresh to death.

Carla is awesome! We talked about Ferrari's!! My favorite car!! Anyways, she knows her stuff!! Very professional, very personable, and sweet, I might add. She gave my husband the whole nine yards. A haircut, shave, styled his beard, etc. in no time!!! Just excellent!!! She even offered us a banana and cookie each!! Nice touch! He definitely got a superb, high quality cut!! We will absolutely go back!! She's great!! Thank you Carla!!

I'm not prone to hyperbole, but this could quite possibly the haircut experience of my life. I gave Karla a try because her google review ratings were stellar. It's very strange that her yelp and google ratings are so different. She asked me what I do for work, and when I said I work in the cannabis industry, she went on a tirade about how much she hates cannabis and how it has taken over Santa Cruz. She also imparted some very personal details about her family related to drug use. Her unceasing spewing of unsolicited opinions that I had inadvertently triggered by simply telling her what I do for a living made me feel extremely awkward, and I tried to avoid any topics that might distract her further from giving me a haircut. However, much to my dismay, she would frequently stop cutting my hair so she could concentrate on dispelling her derision, making the haircut take twice as long as one would usually take. The haircut itself was on par with the quarantine haircuts I had been giving myself, but I wanted so badly to escape that $40 (plus tip) to reclaim sanity seemed like a small price to pay.
