I have been getting my hair bairded here for almost7 years but I will never come back I went on the 29 of June for some French braids to the back just something simple didnt want to sit all day so I text ms Ms mhya I don't know if that's how she spells her name or she spells it maya . To see if I should still come. Now we I want french braids they call in this tall light skinned lady and the first thing she would asked is if I want my hair tight and I would say no. mrs Myha comes in I'm sitting and waiting when she see me she dont look to Happy she walk back and forth ask me how many braids do I want I said she wasn't happy with that because the more braids the more money. Now my hair is not easy to braid because its natural I have no chemicals in my hair and may front middle is a little thinner than the rest but I give a 10.00 dollar tip she braided my hair so tight that the front is still hurting and red and I truly believe she did it on purpose yanking my hair talk to her coworkers like no one could understand stand your broken French but I'm good. I'm taking my shit down and the will never get a dime or a referral sincerely kimberly Howard

ATTENTION LADIES, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS PLACE. Just because a shop says "African Braiding" doesnt mean they are experts at braiding!! I arrived on time for my appointment and still had to wait 20 mins while the woman ate her breakfast....The woman who did my Jumbo Senegalese Twists was rough, inexperienced and plain rude!! She asked what I wanted to watch on TV, then changed the channel because it was something she didn't like. I spent $220 and it was so painful I couldnt even sleep or concentrate at work. On top of that, the twists started to fall out less than a week later. My hair is thick, natural and shoulder length, theres no way the hair should be unravling. She simply had no skills and basically robbed me of my hard earned money. Absolute WORST experience in a shop ever. The shop was filthy and filled with angry LOUD talking African women and their MANY crying children for the duration of my appointment. Ladies, you are better off going to your local "Hood Braider" for the low or learning how to do them yourself from Youtube tutorials. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE so you never have to give your money to lousy "stylists" like the women at Gertrudes.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Please...seriously....if you're reading this do your scalp and edges a favor and DONT GO HERE! I don't know how her shop has been open this long but it needs to be shut down if the owner, Gertrude, is allowing her customers money to be ROBBED for terrible service. Her and her workers are prime examples of Africans who come here, open up shops and don't give a damn to learn or care about how to run it. Got my hair braided here in 2014, the style was ombré box braids. I don't know the name of the nincompoop who braided my hair but she's lucky I didnt take her to court. Literally, as this mad woman is braiding my hair she's eating food and listening to music with headphones while I'm suffering from the grip she has on my hair. I tell her that it's way too tight and she continues to pull my hair. After she was done she took pictures of the style like she accomplished a beautiful look. ...GIRL BYE! Lord knows when I went home I wanted to shave my head off and cry. It hurt soooooo bad to the point I couldn't turn my head without moving my whole body. SERIOUSLY! I felt so bad my the end of the night I wanted to take it out but I didn't want to waste my mothers hard earned $200. So it wasn't until the next day after trying every method in the book that I took it out and found little tiny red bumps on my scalp from how tight the braids were which can cause alopecia. Long story short, please don't go here. Save your money and your edges. It's not worth it it!

Good Afternoon, I have given this establishment a very poor rating because I received VERY poor service. I unknowingly had my hair braided by an individual that had literally started that day. She had no supervision from the owner or other women in the shop that were doing the braids. She braided my hair SO tight that I literally cried that night attempting to lay my head on my pillow to go to bed. After not being able to take the pain any longer I removed about 8-10 braids around the front of my head prior to calling the owner, Gertrude. She was defensive for her NIECE who braided my hair stating that she took her time to do the braids. My response to that is had I not been a customer taking MY time and paying MY money she would not have a client so MY time and money is the important factor in this case. In addition to the pain, my hair came out around the edges and most importantly, within two weeks my hair looked about two months old. Overall, paying $200 to get braids and they last 2 good weeks is not worth the pain, price and time. Gertrude's will never receive another dime of my money and I will not have anything nice to pass on about her establishment EVER!!!!!
