I'm a longtime client at Base salon. I went in yesterday for my routine color and cut and decided spontaneously to add on extensions. The entire team jumped into action to make it happen. They juggled schedules, appointments, ensured they had the right color and texture of extensions for me, and had me out the door with a beautiful head of hair in no time. It was the definition of going above and beyond. I am so grateful and want everyone to know that this is the best salon in the city. Not only is my hair gorgeous, but the vibe and friendliness and spirit there is unmatched!

First of all, what a cute salon. The customer service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was super welcoming as soon as I walked in. Danielle brought my blonde back to life and somehow made it feel healthier even though we were going brighter. She also put me onto K18's hair mask, and even though I've only used it for a few weeks, the difference is already insane. She is so sweet, and really listens/works with you to achieve the look you're imagining. I'll be going back as long as she's in business, and I can't recommend her enough!!

Haircut by Danielle is uneven and vibe of the business was uncomfortable, money hungry "buy more products and add on more services" type of feel. Didn't realize how bad the cut was until I got home. I attempted to cancel my following appointment, business claims they never received cancellation and I was charged full price for both appointments (the bad cut and the cancelled appointment). I wrote a Google review and the business responded stating they would address my concerns and to contact them. I contacted them using the method they instructed and they have not replied. There are other reviews on here stating some of the questionable business practices and treatment by the business. These are absolutely in line with what I have experienced. If you are happy with your result..great, but if there is any type of concern.. good luck .

I moved to Chicago in 2022 and hopped around a few salons until I landed on Base when I moved from Wicker Park to the West Loop. I have def found my home salon! I came across McKenzie's TikTok/insta and immediately sent a DM - she was so quick to respond and really listened to what I was looking for. I leave with a smile on my face and always look forward to getting back to her chair!!
