Bailiu Salon in Deer Park, IL

Called in 6 weeks in advanced to make an appointment, they got my information and CC info, confirmed i was booked on the 25th and added me on a waiting list incase something opens up, i didn't hear back from anyone at all, no confirmation email, no call no text, so a week before my appointment I wanted to follow up and see if im good and set, only to find out I was not on the schedule and they don't know what day I might have been put on, (which I might miss and get my CC charge a no show fee!) now i have no where to go, everyone is booked within a short notice and i have a very important event to attend that week! What a waste of time and not professional customer service! Very disappointed..

I found Dorothy and her salon Bailiu on Yelp! I was really nervous. It's been a long time since I've had anything but a pixie cut. My hair had grown out long enough to get something different after 15 years. I was totally FLOORED! Dorothy is MAGIC! My friends and family still can't believe it's me! An asymmetrical cut. Dorothy is absolutely fabulous with her work! Definitely recommend. 5 star. My significant other loves her work.

Dorothy knows how to cut my hair. She just knows! She gets what I want my hair done. And love the way it turns out. The layer makes it light and bouncy.

08/14/21-Original appt with "Dorothy" was 5/01/21--Having gone to a real salon after my visit with Dorothy I am more upset than ever at what this woman did to me. As my new stylist was working on my hair she asked me: "Did the last person leave you sitting by yourself without checking on you?" "Yeah actually she did---how did you know that?!" "Well, in the lower parts of your hair the CUTICLE IS COMPLETELY BLOWN OPEN.---She also used a PERMANENT TONER on you which is a BIG NO NO" and a cheap way of doing things" (my new professional stylist explained she most likely tried to lift color with color instead of using bleach as she should have which would have been more money in product for her) "If you had recently colored your hair at home in the past (very first thing I told Dorothy) in that case, color won't lift the color, and her plan was foiled and she just dumped permanent toner into your hair to cover it all up...No wonder she told you your hair wouldn't lift." SO BUYER BEWARE!!!! THIS WOMAN IS A TOTAL FRAUD! HER "FORMULA" WAS A SHAM, and the products she used in my hair were CHEAP and INCORRECT for the job, which she didn't even care about because she was too busy stuffing her face for breakfast to care about the client she left in her shitty one room "salon". A 24-year-old stylist I saw at a reputable salon had more common sense and skill not to mention business etiquette than this old bag who is more like the wicked witch of the west than she is a Dorothy! Let's put it this way---when I'm at work---and a client has set aside time to meet with me it is UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE, AND NEGLIGENT to simply say "sorry I need to go eat/smoke/etc" and just leave that person hanging there. As far as the claim that I was 20 mins late---I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH HER 1/2 hr before my appt to ASK if it would be better for us to reschedule. I HAD THE COURTESY TO LET HER KNOW IN ADVANCE THAT I MIGHT BE A FEW MINS LATE. This begs the question, Dorothy...if you didn't have a chance to take care of yourself and eat---couldn't you have done that in the downtime? A lot of your responses are really inconsistent and make no sense whatsoever. I have better things to do than write reviews, and the only reason I wrote this one is that my experience with Bailiu Salon WAS SO EXCEPTIONALLY POOR...Not because I'm trying to "harass" anyone. This platform exists specifically for people to describe their experiences and that is all I'm doing here. I am furious b/c I had not lightened my hair in over 10+ years and I thought when I was coming to Bailiu Salon to see Dorothy she was a real "Master Stylist" and my well cared for hair was in good hands. I WAS HORRIBLY MISTAKEN AND NOW I HAD TO GET A COLOR CORRECTION B/C OF THIS WOMAN'S SHODDY WORK AND MY LONG HAIR IS IRREPARABLY DAMAGED, CRUNCHY AND LIFELESS AT WHERE SHE WORKED ON IT...AND THIS HORRIBLE ORANGE BRASSY CHEAP TONER SHE PUT IN MY HAIR LOOKED HORRIBLE FROM DAY ONE. DOROTHY---I'd ask for MY $300 BACK PLUS THE 20% TIP YOU CLAIM I didn't leave you when your little credit card machine thing only gives the option of 20% and up and I didn't have A CHOICE but to leave you a tip you really didn't earn...but it's not even worth going after you at this point. THE ONLY REASON for these reviews which YOU find "harassing" is simply to make sure other UNSUSPECTING PEOPLE LIKE ME don't fall for the same SCAM I did--and end up with their hair TOTALLY DAMAGED by you AND YOUR NEGLIGENCE. THANK YOU FOR ADMITTING YOU USED DRUGSTORE PRODUCTS in your reply---at least you owned up to that. But since you brought up the payment process-- you never even gave me a receipt. I SUGGEST YOU UPDATE YOUR RESUME B/C IF I CAN STOP YOU FROM RUINING ANYONE ELSE'S HAIR I WILL!
