Aveda Richard Michael Salon in Costa Mesa, CA

Amber did my hair and she poured water down my back for almost twenty seconds before finally responding to my cries to please stop the water. She refused to dry me off until she finished cutting my hair, so I sat for half the time shivering. Accidents happen, but she NEVER apologized. Never got the advertised neck massage. She did a mediocre job on my haircut requesting long layers and to thin out my thick, heavy hair. Hair was still very thick and heavy; layers were chunky and outdated; not subtle at all. At the end, I was shocked that she asked me to tag her on Instagram for a discount... again, without acknowledging that she drenched me with water. I expected more in customer service and style from a salon like this with these prices.

Beautiful salon with Aveda products! When walking in and greeted I was offered the signature Aveda tea. Lovely decor and very clean salon. The new lines of products displayed perfectly. My stylist offered the hand treatments during my shampoo and conditioning. As well as explaining the treatment and products. Love Aveda and truly enjoy this Aveda salon.

So happy to find a 32 ounce Camomile and Bleu Mauve shampoo and accompanying conditioners. Totally bummed as they have both been discontinued! Anyway service was great and the lovely lady at the register was so kind and helpful and showed me a couple of products I can use in the future! This is a bustling business yet she took the time to make sure there was any stock in the back! Cheers to that lovely tall lady at the register wearing all black! You made my day!!!

The last 2 times I have made an appointment with this salon (in June and then again for an appointment today) they had called me the day of and the day before to cancel. Not even an apology. So unprofessional. I will not be making another attempt to go here.

I'm not gonna lie I was a bit nervous getting my hair done at this salon for the first time based on the mixed reviews. I was initially drawn to this salon because I love Aveda products and I'm familiar with how my hair picks up the color when it comes to going blonde from black hair (I was probably a level 1 or 2 when I came in.) With that being said, I had low expectations for my highlight experience and didn't expect to step out of the salon a full blonde. I walked out of the salon that day as a whole other person in the best way. I had scheduled a cut and consultation with Carlos. He was a bit hesitant to give me a full head of highlights due to a few factors such as time and my previously damaged hair. We agreed on cutting of an inch or 2 and doing a partial. He totally exceeded my expectations and I'm so happy with how blonde I walked out. My only regret is not getting a full head of highlights so I swear to god I might have to go in again this weekend and get the bottom part blonde too lol. The price is amazing too, I would say. I was set on not spending more than $300 for my entire appointment and I ended up only spending $215 for services. I will be coming back! Maybe sooner than expected. Thank you, Carlos!
