I just wanna give a shout out to Ken Volz because he is amazing! I have referred my clients to him now for several years. Not one of my clients have come back and said they were disappointed. Ken is very knowledgeable with different types of hair and I appreciate that he can work with ethnic hair. He is a master color stylist and knows his way around a head of hair. Keep it going Ken!

Love the friendly and experienced staff of hairdressers that work there, especially Betty Agosto the best hairstylist for coloring hair. She does magic with her hands while she chats on telling funny jokes. The price is affordable not to high nor too low, but just right, however the hair color is outstanding! She is simply the Best Better than the Rest!

If you are looking for the best hair stylist and colorist in Ventura...look no further. Ken Volz is outstanding, and a talented professional. He meticulously addresses the need at hand, and gets it right every time. He knows color....on every level. He doesn't take 'short cuts', uses the best products available, and can repair even the most damaged hair. Ken is a warm and welcoming man who delivers expert service with a smile, and with enough confidence in his work to give you your own formula on how to 'touch up' your own root color in between full fledged tune ups/appointments if you care to.. And for a great haircut? He takes the time to do it right, no matter how little or how much you need done. I have had hairdressers barely touch tips and call it done, for a trim. Ken will shape and style to meet the need and to restore or recreate. No shortcuts! He is creative and a whole lot of fun. Top of the line experience with integrity is hard to come by, especially with such quality in a casual atmosphere. BONUS!!. There are no pretenses here!! How did I find him? He was recommended to me by a neighbor. Having moved here from back East, I had unsuccessfully perused Yelp to find a new hairdresser. One place was ok, (contemporary salon just opening) but with the F bomb being dropped every other word, I wasn't thrilled with the atmosphere, or the service. The second place was dull , all the way across the board with a boxy haircut and dull color. And the third place? 'Self Image'...was a shocker. After asking for basic hair coloring/shampoo/cut...(which took 4 hours in the chair?)....I was stunned to get hit with total charges of 250.00 (which included 1 bottle of conditioner at 17.00) It seems that the quoted prices seen on the chart upon entering the salon, were not the same prices that this particular hairdresser was charging. (she later told me that she rents a chair and has different prices. Even though the same chart was at her station.) She even charged me separately for all of the products that she used during my service....shampoo, color, conditioner, etc. PAAAALEEEEZE!! So, you can imagine why I was a bit gunshy to try another salon. If you want the real deal, great quality, and a wonderful experience call Ken. If you are looking for flashy, high stepping fashionista salons with all the right names, lights, decor and schmooze....then go to L.A.. The place is hard to see, as it blends in to the 'block', with the sun reflecting in the windows to make it difficult to see from the street. 'Walk Ins' Welcome is on the window and the easiest thing to spot. Signage? minimal. Park near Ferraro's and walk across the street towards 5 Points. ASK FOR KEN Sue
