10th & Vine Hair Co. in Matawan, NJ

HORRIBLE service from their stylist Marina! My mom and I went in December of last year to get our hair done for the holidays. We are Dominicans so my mom and I have very curly hair. My mom only speaks spanish so when we went in I explained what my mom was looking to get done which was a blow dry and straighten, same thing I was getting done. They get my moms hair washed up and whilst i'm getting my hair washed the girl comes over and says that my moms hair was "extremely damaged" and she "felt uncomfortable putting heat in her hair" because if she did "it would all just melt off." Personally I find this very unprofessional and rude especially because my mom ended up leaving the salon with her hair wet, she didn't even offer to dry it for her. Keep in mind it was mid December so it was very cold out. My mom ended up going to another salon a week later and they did her hair with no issues and it did NOT "melt off" like she said. I have gotten my hair done there multiple times but have never had a problem before. I don't know if it was because my mom didn't speak spanish or what but I found this very unprofessional. I took a couple minutes to look through the girls instagram page and didn't see anyone with curly hair or a woman of color. I'm not trying to make this about race but I find this very ironic. I was going to make a review when this first happened but got very busy since it was around the holidays and I just recently remembered this incident. I'm not sure if the girl works there anymore because I didn't see her on the salons website but I was really bothered by this. I'm usually not one for posting reviews, especially bad ones but this made me extremely upset.

I would recommend this business to anyone who was looking for a hairstylist. I would specifically recommend Nyasia ! The work that she does is almost unbelievable. She's taking my hair from blonde to brown to purple to orange. It is absolutely flawless every-time. She is truly an artist! Also a very sweet girl who is fun to converse with! I always feel like I'm just hanging out with a friend! 10/10

Extremely excited for them to open! I've gotten my hair cut by Nyasia and she cut my hair exactly how I wanted it! She's seriously amazing! She wasn't "scissor happy" and really listened to how I wanted my hair styledso I will definitely be going back! I've also gotten my hair colored by Chase who left me feeling like a new person with my balayage! I was nervous considering I had virgin hair at the time but I left with a beautiful color that left me wanting more! These two amazing stylists in one shop is going to be perfect! I'd definitely recommend these stylists and this salon!

Chase has been my hairstylist for over five years and always colors and styles my hair perfectly. Her attention to detail is amazing. I constantly get compliments on my hair. She is always kind and gives me her honest opinion. Thank you for being the best hairdresser. Can't wait to be there with her during her new journey at 10th & Vine Hair. If you want outstanding service I highly recommend!!!!
