Yikes! Salon in Green Bay, WI

I've been going to Yikes! salon for around 3 years now. I've recommended this place (and my girl Ashleigh) to many friends and relatives; my mom was pleased with her coloring, which was an awesome surprise because she's hard to please, and my sister's best friend got her wedding updo here. I now plan trips to Green Bay in accordance with when I need my hair cut. Great place with pleasant stylists and a funky ambience.

I used to visit Yikes a lot at their old location, before I moved away. When I moved back to GB four years later, I thought I would try Yikes again. The stylist was friendly, and asked what I wanted with my hair. I said that I was growing it out, and that I was only looking for a trim. The only guideline I gave was that I didn't want a short haircut, and other than that she should just do what she thought would look good. The stylist began cutting, and kept cutting, and saying that it just didn't look right, and kept cutting. I walked out with a short hair cut; the one thing I asked her not to do. I might consider giving them another chance, but maybe there are better GB salons, I will have to see.

I wish I could've given Yikes! 5 stars. I really do. Yikes! is a super fun and funky salon to get your hair did. The gals are ultra friendly and really chill, please keep that in mind while reading this review. I came here twice within a one month period and had two different experiences thus the lowly average of three stars. Visit #1: I had called in for an appointment and was booked with the lead stylist. The whole process was fine until she started cutting... she was really chatty (not only with me) and unfocused the whole time. She even popped an earring out of my ear without noticing! I thought we were both in agreement and understanding of what I wanted but apparently not. So to echo what Mer K. said; it looked bad as a result of the stylist just doing what she wanted. It's really difficult to tell someone that you hate the haircut while you're at the mercy of their shears. I paid, went home, and re-cut my hair. Visit #2: This was for a special occasion updo. I brought a few pictures of what I wanted and consulted with the "Updo girl" before she went at it. She had the normal salon chat with me but also mentioned what she was doing to my hair as she was doing it. She was very focused and concentrated on her work, especially near the end when putting on the finishing touches. In the end, I loved it! Everyone at the event loved it! I'll probably go back again for a haircut but try a different stylist. I will definitely go back again for an updo.

The atmosphere is fun and the music is great. Parking is easy to find. I don't think the service is very good or friendly here. You have to use a bathroom downstairs in the antique store, which can be embarrassing in the middle of a process. In the end, I just didn't think I looked really great and didn't think the stylist listened to me.
