Not a good location. I love ulta and their products. Love their rewards program even more! I've been purchasing "high end" makeup for over 15 years from the brand. This store does not represent the brand well. Poorly stocked, poorly laid out, and poor customer service.
I worked retail; I get that there's tough days and it can be a difficult job- but no matter the struggles of day I always gave my customers respect and a smile. I've been to this location multiple times because of proximity and it's not even worth it to go in- buy online to save yourself or go somewhere else. Too many bad experiences. I will not be returning to this location again.
DO NOT SHOP AT THIS LOCATION. I have been an Ulta customer for years and my last few shopping experiences at the Renaissance center location on Fayetteville road in Durham, NC have been HORRIBLE. The employees I have encountered racially profile the non-white customers and have ZERO knowledge about the products. When I say ZERO I mean piss poor. When it happened once, I thought it was all in my head, but NO, this is ongoing. On 2/3/23 I was literally followed around the entire store within 20 minutes of me arriving by an employee who was a white woman with thin blonde hair in a ponytail. I watched her follow me from one side to the other, from one testing station to the next, from one aisle to the next. IT WAS RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!! Please note, I had a shopping basket like any other customer, I asked employees, EVEN HER, to locate products like any other customer, I'm browsing and testing products JUST LIKE ANY OTHER CUSTOMER but I was suspicious because of course I'm non-white. Other customers were LITERALLY trying to get her attention and were asking for help and she became agitated because she didn't want to take her eyes off me. I saw her whispering to another white employee, short woman, short jet black hair. I held my composure. Once I went to check out the employee/manager with short black hair tapped the cashier on the shoulder and switched out with her so she could check me out. For whatever reason her whole demeanor changed when she saw my membership account. I was FURIOUS with this entire experience. This isn't even half of what I've encountered there. Needless to say, I won't be returning. Ulta needs to improve their hiring and vetting. I'll update once I get a response back from the complaint.
I love ULTA! But this location is dirty and under stocked! The samples are a mess and there are no clean applicators or tissues available. Almost every product is sold out (basic things like foundation brushes and popular brands of mascara). I have been 3 times this month hoping it was just an after Xmas issue, but it is worse each time. They are also VERY pushy about getting the credit card.
I need a new nearby makeup spot for sure.
