The Collective Salon Seattle in Seattle, WA

I requested a long angled bob, keeping as much length as possible in the front. It was cut extremely uneven all around. Pictures kinda speak for themselves. She offered for me to come in and get it fixed. But, I made the decision to go elsewhere.

I debated if I wanted to write this 3-star review because I very much enjoyed meeting Crystal and having a pleasant conversation with her while she cut my hair, but two things bothered me after the haircut. One, my hair was a lot shorter than I had asked. I had asked for a blunt cut, angled bob where the front would hit 1-2 inches below my chin. I ended up with a blunt cut bob but it was 1 inch above my chin at the widest part of my face. That was shocking to me to see once I put my glasses back on. I have low vision so without my glasses on, I couldn't see how short my hair was getting. It is a good and precise cut, but the length is not what I asked for. Second, when I got home I saw my receipt in my email and noticed a $5 Green Circle charge. Looked it up and turns out it's a charge for disposal and recycling of hair, foils, etc. Like Ridwell for hair salons. The Green Circle website suggested that salons charge a small fee like $1 to customers. A $5 fee feels way too high and there was nothing posted in The Collective's website about it. For these things, I'm docking 2 stars.

I feel like I have my own personal "hair whisperer" in Randy! He understands my hair in a way that only a few hair stylists ever have. Something about the way he cuts it really brings out the best in my hair and I am able to style it in ways that I never used to be able to do. Randy really listens and takes the time to teach me how to style my hair at home -- what products and tools to use and why. I just love everything about the salon too -- it's professional and cutting edge and you feel like you're there to see friends and have a lovely time. I wish I could give a higher rating!

Amazing Amazing Amazing. All around 5 star service, from the moment you walk into the door to the time you leave. Randy, Mel, and Crystal treat you with so much kindness, respect, listen to what you want, and then deliver. I would recommend everyone go to The Collective salon! Great music too!

I approached someone on the street who had a fabulous short haircut and asked her for her stylist's contact info. Melanie at The Collective does an amazing job with my short and curly hair - she works with the curls instead of trying to tame them, and spends the time needed to make it easy for me to maintain. The hair grows well and continues to look great between cuts. I highly recommend this place, and Melanie in particular.
