Southern Chic Salon and Spa in Oxford, MS

After fighting with grief for 5 years from losing my 18 year old son, I finally got up the confidence to go to a real beauty shop and took money from my savings to get my hair stacked and try and get back out into society so that I could finally try and utilize my masters degree. Looking professional is so important when trying to get your foot in the door!
I chose this particular business because it looked modern and classy. I made an appt the girl told me she could definitely stack my hair and when I went in and sat down we talked and during the cut I knew immediately she couldn't stack my hair. She was guessing. I told her she was cutting it wrong and she called the "Master" beautician over and she grabbed the back of my hair and just cut it all at an angle! The girl that was cutting my hair told me that only old women have short hair and everyone in Oxford has long blonde hair even the older women. I couldn't believe she said that. I have been through hell and back and prayed for 5 years to get the strength to try and live my life. My hair was destroyed. She didn't style it for me. I walked out of there with a huge bald spot. No hairspray no nothing. I paid $70 and I tried to be the better person and tipped her $10 so maybe God would see I tried. I ended up falling back into depression and stayed home another year. I bought wigs and tried them and I just couldn't handle that.

Some people can't function in society with a bad haircut, overweight, and depressed then struggling with whatever. A nice day at the salon and a great haircut could mean the difference in someone living their life or not. Beauticians need to be held accountable if they say they can do a cut and continue to seat you and cut your hair they should have consequences just like a doctor, lawyer, or any other professional. Mental health is a serious issue and people like this don't help. If you can do the cut just say you can't do the cut. Making a dollar should never be more important than how someone feels about themselves when walking out of your place of business.

I took a video and a picture to show her what the cut looked like and she told me yes she could do it. After 6 months I went to the the cheap place across the highway and had a little girl fresh out of beauty school try and fix my hair and she got closer to stack in the back than she did. It still wasn't right but it wasn't embarrassing to go outside.

I hope you read your reviews. I am a forgiving person but I never forget how anyone makes me feel. It's been about 8 months since I was there and the sides of my hair still aren't grow out enough to properly style my hair. I wish I had taken pics but I just went home and went to bed.

This girl that cut my hair was saving money for Morgan Wallen concert and it just so happened he didn't play that second night. I hope that was the night she went so she could feel what disappointment feels like.

I can't remember the girls name that did my hair but she has long blonde wavy hair and healthy. She's young.

Just so you know a beautiful brunette stack with some nice jeans and corral boots is sassy, sexy,  and southern! When I walk in they all going to notice. Also a brunette won Ms UOM a month or so after this

It is by far the best hair cut I've had since moving to Oxford. The atmosphere is professional yet friendly and welcoming. I'm grateful that I've finally found a person and place that I am more than comfortable with.

I grew up in Oxford but now live in New York City. I'm visiting my family for the holidays and needed my roots touched up. Kelsey got me in the day after I called and did an excellent job! Super friendly, attentive, and reasonably priced.

I started seeing Mary at Southern Chic a couple of months ago for a haircut and beard trim. She does a fantastic job and her schedule is flexible to accommodate mine. I highly recommend this stylist!

I started going to see Hillary my freshman year of college after not wanting to keep driving 2.5 hours home every 6 weeks. It has now been 3 going on 4 years  of me coming to get my hair done with Hillary none the less and I have nothing but amazing things to say. I have the utmost respect for all staff and I wholeheartedly trust what they do to my hair (I have never not loved my hair after getting it done there)! Hillary specializes in blondes and she is a miracle worker. I recently wanted to go darker and Hillary made it happen and I LOVE it! I highly recommend southern chic!
