If you are looking for a new hair salon this is the place to go! Cam is absolutely amazing! She took my box dyed black hair into a a beautiful brown in just a few sessions and they are very fairly priced!  Cam does all my blowouts and my hair cuts for my thick/coarse hair and she does amazing! Love SOHO and the community they have here, I am always greeted upon walking in and feel valued.

I have a very unique style for my hair and Sarah V. nailed it on the first try. She was so accommodating and genuinely wanted to know exactly what i wanted and made sure she did everything she could to make sure i left happy. Highly recommend her especially for people who have curly hair!!

I got my hair cut at Soho on Friday 1/7 by Justin, who they said was their stylist for curly hair. If you have curly hair, I would STRONGLY encourage you to go elsewhere. I showed Justin a picture of my own hair from July as inspiration, as well as 2 other photos of curly mullets that I liked. I also told him that I like a lot of volume at the top and a very shaggy cut/mullet. We discussed length, and I can admit that maybe there was misunderstanding in what I told him I wanted and what he understood re: length. I said shoulders and showed him where I'd like it to fall, which is probably just past collarbone length. When he was cutting he was like this is a lot of hair are you sure, and I said yes because what I wanted taken off was inches of hair. To me that would be a lot! I hadn't had my hair cut since July and it grows pretty fast so it was much longer than I like it to be.

My hair ended up not even firmly on my shoulders. It's barely dusting my shoulders and because curly hair dries differently every time, sometimes it's not even touching my shoulders. In no way is that what I wanted. One side is longer than the other, which is something he noticed when my hair was dry some and tried to fix, but it's still visibly uneven. Also, the back is shorter than the front. I can understand if there was miscommunication about the length (but anyone that knows anything about curly hair should know that it's going to curl up more when you take length off because there is less weight pulling the curl out, so he should have accounted for this). But in what world is a mullet shorter in the back?!

In addition to my cut just not being what I asked for, there were also several other things about the salon that I think should be a warning for anyone else with curly hair thinking about coming here. They only had one product for curly hair. It ended up being fine for my curls, but I don't think one product is enough for every curl type or style. Justin did apologize about that and said they were between product lines, which fine but maybe tell your curly clients that. Normally I use the products a salon carries to gauge what the experience for me might be like, but Soho has good reviews and my sister loves her stylist here. I will never disregard that rule I made for myself again. Justin did cut my hair dry, which is much better for curly hair. But it felt like he just cut it exactly like you would straight hair--just dry. Another thing that really bothered me was that my hair wasn't completely dry when I left. I get that it takes a long time to dry curly hair, but when I go to a salon to get my haircut, I want it to be dried and styled when I leave. I feel like that should be part of the process and if you need more time to do it, then factor that in when scheduling people. The fact that my hair wasn't dry all the way also made it hard for me to see just how bad my hair was when I was still at the salon. I definitely would have said something when I was there if I saw what I see now. After Justin washed my hair he said he was going to have me put my hair into place before he put me under the dryer because I know my hair better. While I get that, it's really frustrating to go to a salon to get a haircut and then style your own hair. If I had known he was going to take that approach, I would have NEVER come here for the haircut I wanted. To me, that's a sign that you don't have much knowledge of curly hair.

I will say that Justin was perfectly nice and the salon is nice. But I just don't think they have enough knowledge and skill in cutting curly hair. Justin talked about creating certain shapes and volume that we discussed, but he wasn't able to execute it. The pieces he cut at the top of my head to create more volume don't do that. If you just want a simple trim on your curly hair and not something that requires creating a lot of shape or dimension, then maybe you'll be fine at Soho! Before moving back to Baton Rouge, I went to a curly hair expert in Chicago so I know what a good curly haircut experience is like. My experience there was vastly different (read: better) than at Soho. It's going to take my hair a long time to grow out so that I can do anything with it, but I will not be coming back here once it does. And in the meantime instead of a cool shaggy mullet, I have an uneven little lad bob (one of my friends even said the cut had little lad vibes, which is not what I was going for).

The staff and place itself was great! I was welcomed in and treated very nicely while I waited, I also loved my stylist. She was super sweet and consulted with me before working. So I am confused why my hair looks nothing like what I asked for. I wanted my natural roots and we even agreed on where she would start the color and unfortunately I left with orange roots fading into blonde. I am disappointed because it took so long for me to get back to my natural color and that is all now ruined. I'm so embarrassed and don't even want people to see me, I'm going somewhere else to get it fixed next week. Maybe I just got a bad stylist or she was having a bad day. Overall a great welcoming place, I just had a bad experience I guess.

I recently came to get a soft really subtle balayage at Soho. I left with an orange red, drastic mess of hair. When i got home and realized how bad the hair actually was I was appalled I was left with that hair. Considering I paid 258 dollars for this I am apalled. I emailed the salon and they told me to come in to get it fixed. I came in only for them to be upset I went to social media to make others aware of how they leave their clients. So is a bad review bullying now? Apparently. In my opinion if you're that sensitive you probably should not botch peoples hair because that is peoples money and lives your messing with. Anyway, I will go to a much more qualified salon and show them what they did and get what I originally asked for.
