Salon Backstage in Tucson, AZ

This was my first visit to Salon Backstage. I was looking for a great 'hair cutter'; someone who knew his/her craft and how to cut short hair. Steve took all my feedback and gave me the BEST cut I have had in years!

I I Monique is a great colorists and knows a great about thin highlighted hair ! I'll be seeing her in about 7 weeks. I would recommend her for color and definitely thin hair.Julie

I saw Steve, asked him to lift the crown a bit of my medium length curly hair so that I had a bit more height. It was the back of my hair,at the crown so I didn't really see what he did. After going home and showering, I saw he chopped my hair to about 3 inches! Is this man a cosmetologist or just a barber?

My hair stylist finally retired, last summer's pixie was growing out, I desperately needed a fresh style. Friends said, " You can't go wrong at Salon Backstage, all the stylists are excellent!" That said, I am, er, a very low maintenance grandma. I called Salon Backstage and spoke with Monique who booked me within a few days. She took time to discover I am not going to spend alot of time on my hair every day, and designed an easy care style. I have had many compliments and I can let it air dry or style it. Monique is great with people and shears!!! If you need salon care, this is the place!

We moved to Tucson about 3 years ago and I used Yelp to find a hair salon for my wife, particularly one where reviewers mentioned how the stylists handle colors in the red and purple family. I found Salon Backstage on Yelp, and my wife's been coming here since then, almost 3 years, and it is just now dawning on me that, of all people, I never posted my OWN review. Just look at the business profile picture. That's Steve, the owner/proprietor, and he's terrific. It's not just his gregarious personality, but the way he runs his business and his own excellent skills as a stylist. He really does absolutely nail the red colors. And he's just a lot of fun to be around. It's a very enjoyable experience because the salon is comfortable, I can sit on the couch and use my tablet while my wife gets her hair done. And it's not just the color that he gets right so consistently well, but also the cut. I really like the short style my wife has and Steve does a great job all around - the top looks great, the back is nice and clean, sides are awesome, too. You can, of course, purchase hair related products at the salon, but also other items (jewelry, for example). And I like the cool art, the posters and photos on the call. But the important part is the hair cutting and coloring and as I said, Steve does a consistently great job on both. We drive about 45 minutes to come here. Once you find a stylist you like, you stick with them. It's totally worth the drive. The hair treatment is great, Steve is fun, and the salon is comfortable to hang out in.
