Miskarie Hair Salon in San Jose, CA

In the last 3 years I've written just 2 Yelp reviews. One for a neurosurgeon and one for a "Got Junk" hauling service, ha! I like to write only when I am super-impressed. And that is definitely the case with Miskarie Hair Salon. The shop is modest, but it has a free parking lot right in front, and it's easy to find on the corner of 6th and E Santa Clara Str. The business has operated there for 30 years. It's a very likeable husband-wife team that owns and runs Miskarie. I've always been taken care of by Don. He'll carefully listen to what you want done, and he is likewise happy to be helpful with questions and suggestions. Me, I needed help! Like a lot of men my age, I've got hair that is thinning in some areas and grows quickly in others. Don works with the shape of my head and makes this mismatch of thin/thick hair a great deal improved. Don also remembers what I like best about how he does this: When I return 2-3 weeks later, he's ready to jump and take care of me. Other reviewers have mentioned just how reasonable the prices are at Miskarie. Indeed, I'm always happy to leave a generous tip. I would probably feel like a bit of a bandit if I did anything less! The attention, patience, expertise, and warm smiles at Miskarie are the best I've ever found when needing to get my haircut.

MENS HAIRCUT - $13!!!! This is the best deal I could find in San Jose for a quick men's haircut. So many places charge 20-45 bucks that I was starting to lose hope. Very happy to have found a reasonably priced haircut. It's not the most inspiring place to look at, but you're also not paying for that insane overhead. Would return if I needed a quick clip.

Terrible customer service. I called them to ask them what services they offer, and they would not answer my questions and hung up on me half way through the phone call. Not a good way to do business.

I've been a customer since 96-97. I'm here every 3-5 weeks. I have a lumpy head, so it's hard to get a short hair cut to look right. They do it right, every time. I drive in from a few cities away. Excellent hair cut at incredible prices. It's worth the time and money.

I have been coming to this salon for years. When I moved to San Jose I tried 4-5 other places before settling in on Miskarie as my 'regular' place for haircuts. This included places that charged 2x-4x as much for a haircut. Some of them had nicer waiting areas and a hipper vibe. But at the end of the day you're left with a haircut that you want to look great for weeks . . . and the price. And, for these two things Miskarie was (and still is) the best. If you do go there, please tip them if you can - I'm always concerned about how they stay in business with such reasonable prices.
