If I could rate less than 1 star I would. I had an appointment scheduled just after Covid was beginning to die down. Angie's website showed she was booked months in advance so I decided to let my hair continue to grow and schedule my appointment for 3 months later. The days before the appointment I ask her if there's anything I need to do in preparation before coming to the shop....No response. I ask to confirm the final price and make sure I'm clear on the style I wanted...No response. The morning of the appointment comes and I decide to let her know that I may have to reschedule the appointment since she wasn't responding or answering any of my questions and it would've been my first time getting them done. I wanted to be sure about the quality of the work for the price she was asking me to pay...Angie finally responds that she can reschedule me but it will be another few months. I said "Well since you finally responded I can come in today at my scheduled time". Her response was "Oh well since you said you may need to be rescheduled I removed your appointment and already replaced you with someone else." I verbatim asked her, "So for the last week you couldn't respond to me nor confirm that we were still on for my appointment, but in the last 5 minutes you were able to give up my spot and confirm this appointment when someone else after you saw the word "reschedule"?. I wouldn't have needed to ask to do that if you had done your job as a "business owner" and didn't leave your customers high and dry when they've booked you for the services you supposedly offer. I had written this previously but decided against posting it as I didn't want to play a hand in getting a business shut down, but after searching for a new loctician and seeing the reviews on this one, it is very clear that "Angie's Dreadlock Services" haven't changed at all. This business is a disgrace and embarrassment to the Oakland community. It deserves to be shut down. Do NOT go here...go to Ora K Locs instead!! (Or literally anywhere else but Ora K is professional and treats her customers with kindness and respect).

DON'T GO TO ANGIE! She's a ripoff! First she was late and instead of apologizing, had an attitude. She was rude on our first encounter AND insisted on making me pay upfront. (Probably because she knew what a shitty job she was going to do, and that I wouldn't want to pay for it after seeing the inferior quality of her work.) She had her assistant work on me first. Then partway through she interfered and messed up the consistency that the other woman had created, so I made her stop. When all the twisting was done I pointed out the inconsistencies. Again, instead of apologizing she got nasty and kicked me out of the shop before allowing her assistant to complete the job. I've started Locs four previous times. Each time it starts with a wash and ends with sitting under a dryer. This time I got neither. So, I paid $175. for a bad attitude and a bad hairstyle. Go somewhere else!

Angie is only serious about making money. Not about customer service or the quality of her work. She will disregard any concerns you have bc she knows everything and you know nothing. Very very rude, late, tacky, and unprofessional. As a business owner myself, I would never lie about my prices just to increase them once a customer arrives. I really wanted to support another black woman owned business but I guess I'll have to learn on my own My hair lasted 6 days max, I refuse to go back to Angie just to be disrespected and over charged. Do yourself a favor and book with anybody else!

I was referred to this salon by a close friend of mine who knows the owner brought my sister who is a disabled adult to get her dreads retwisted her first retwist when I got her hair done initially somewhere else and they had done a terrible job when I tell you locs by Angie saved the day my sister stylist was Nicole she was excellent she did her hair perfectly and she was very compassionate to my disabled sister who can't talk gave her a hug when she was done great vibe and very clean they definitely got a new client

Never got my refund. But I did get a thank you for your review from Angie herself. Silver lining, i guess.
