Imperial Hair & Beauty Supply in Birmingham, AL

This store is on par with the other ethnic beauty supply stores in the area. However, I feel like they do not have the range of products and items that their competitors have who are less than 1-2 miles from them.

I was greeted when I entered and I was asked by an employee if I had found what I needed. I did find what I was looking for, but it was not the color I needed so I left empty-handed. As I was leaving, I noticed there's a part of the store that has discounted merchandise. This could be good if they have what you need.

I will NEVER shop here again! I've spent too much money in the store to be treated the way I was. I called prior to coming to see what time they closed & the lady said 8. I got there at 7:57 (I drove back across town bc another didn't have what I was looking for) & the door was locked! I knocked & the lady at the register told the associate working there to be quiet as if I couldn't see or hear them. I waited until she walked out to ask why had she done that. We talked outside for a while then she told me to come in as if she was gonna let me get the hair I came for. I was headed to the hair & she stopped me & said I couldn't go back. I said well why did you let me in. She said she was gonna call the police. I asked how could you call the police on me & you LET me in. How else could I have gotten in?! She walked up close to me & said "Well hit me! Come on hit me!" NEVER AGAIN!! I liked the lady with the light brown hair, but that dark headed heifer just lost them a LOYAL customer. Before they got the loyalty cards, I would spend $30-$100 dollars every couple of days w/ no problem. They were the only store in the area that carried the hair I used. I'll  go back to drive across town to get it!

I went to this beauty supply with a friend where we purchased braiding hair. Everything was fine until we went to leave the store. As we leave the store, the alarm goes off, and the manager checks our bags. She asks me to check my purse, I let her check my purse. She continues to ask me to go dump my purse on the counter so she can check it. I did not cause a disruption, I allowed her to check my purse at the counter. Then the manager picks up something on a shelf and says that I hid it with the intention of stealing it. At this point personally feel attacked and I am very irritated and I feel disrespected. The manager does not know how to speak with customers and that is unacceptable. After the situation occurred, I called the store looking for management to explain the situation. The same lady answers the phone and tells me to "come and see her." In my opinion, that's very disrespectful when speaking to a customer. Overall, I will not be returning to this store because the way customers are treated is absolutely demeaning and ridiculous. In addition to the previous issues listed above, the store is not very clean and the hair that my friend purchased was stale. I will not be returning.

This beauty supply is pretty much like every beauty supply store, but every time I visit this store I find what I need. This deserves five stars in my book. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable and will help you find what you may be looking to purchase.

Of course there is a minimum to use a credit/debit card. Gel, shampoo, conditioner, sheen, shine, polish, makeup, bobby pins, flat irons, extensions, lip gloss, earrings. Overall beauty needs!
