Fantastic Sams Cut & Color in New Kensington, PA

I have been to this location many times and they always do good with my hair. However, today I took my boyfriend there to get his first haircut in 3 years. His hair was down to his mid back. The wait wasn't long, maybe an hour but there was a lot of people there. I'm not sure of the stylists name, but as soon as he was in the chair she was giving us the worst attitude. He was trying to talk to her and she was just rude and silent the whole time. I suggested to cut off from the back about 2 inches at a time, and stop where he wanted it because he was VERY nervous to get his hair cut. She chose NOT to do that, and when he said AND POINTED that he wanted it at his shoulders, she cut ABOVE where he said. She did the same thing with his bangs. He said he wanted it TO FALL no lower than his cheekbones, and as the hair sits right now, it's far above that. We went in with his hair dry so whoever was doing his hair could see how it lays naturally, and his hair is really bouncy and stretches about an inch when wet. I do not think she took this into consideration when cutting his hair. The atmosphere of the building was nice though, other stylists were complimenting it and seemed really friendly.

I went to the salon on Tarentum Bridge Road. I explained to both stylist what I wanted. Neither could guarantee the color outcome and wanted to cut 4 inches off my hair! The price-$350-$450! They wanted to do a root shadow, platinum card n double foil, with zero guarantee of the color.

I needed a haircut since I was about to head out of town and in typical fashion I waited until that last minute and couldn't get an appointment with my barber of choice. As a last ditch effort I decided to search out a chain and stop there. I haven't been to a Fantastic Sams in a long while. Especially since a lot of them have disappeared over time. Since I was in the area they were the first place I saw. Walked in and they were not busy. I asked for a simple trim and fade up and we were off to the races. The lady that took me on was fast and efficient. She heard what I wanted and made it happen. Saved me time and better than me attempting it at home. I was in and out fairly quickly. Which was pretty great since I was a walk in. I didn't call ahead to set up an appointment. That's the good thing about a chain. You can walk in and have your hair done fairly quickly.

I've been getting my hair cut here for a few years and I have ALWAYS loved my cuts. I typically go to one stylist but others have cut my hair as well and they're all good. I've also referred family and friends and they have been very happy too. It can get busy at times and sometimes there's a wait so I plan accordingly.

I'm giving them two stars only because the one lady (wish I could remember her name) was very nice. So I went to get my hair cut and dyed. I wanted it to be brown. My hair has some red tints that I wanted to get rid of. As she was mixing the color, I heard her say something about adding lighter dimension so it doesn't look, "mousy brown "? I told her that due to the red in my hair that if u use any shade of blonde, it WILL make my hair slightly orange. (Not the look I was going for) She assured me things would be different because of it being professional coloring it would be fine and she knew what she was doing. Fast forward 40 minutes and she removes the towel and, much to my dismay, I see orange. She tells me she can't see it and says let's blow dry it first cuz hair is a different color when wet. OMG!!! After she dried it, I literally looked like a clown it was so orange! U know what she says to me?????... "I don't see any orange?"!!!! Are u freaking kidding me!!! Fix this or give me my money back! Nope, she tells me that she did what I asked for (even though I urgingly warned her ahead of time) and that there's nothing they can do now! I wasted almost $100 and had to go home and get my husband (my husband!!) to dye it dark brown for me! Needless to say, I will never waste my time or money there again and neither should u! This happened to me about a year ago and it still upsets me! But now, my husband, whom I had no idea was so talented, dyes my hair for my now and it's always perfect. Ladies, unless u counterpart as a clown for children's parties, I wouldn't risk it!
