Family Nail & Spa in Plainville, CT

Came in from out of town for a wedding at the Aria and decided to get my nails done, morning of the ceremony. I was not disappointed at all, I got exactly what  I asked for l, nice someone clean gel full set. Took about 1.5 hours.  Wasn't too pricey, would def recommend and come back again if I'm in town.

I visited family nail spa on April 7, 2023. I went in for a gel pedicure and acrylic full set. The staff was friendly when I arrived. The pedicure was fine ($40) - I just did a simple white gel color.

For my full set, I told my nail tech I wanted a coffin shape, but not too skinny. She said ok, and it looked ok from my angle until the acrylic set and I realized they were more on the square side. I didn't want to keep going on about the shape, so I just said fine, whatever - square isn't horrible and left the shape as is.

The design I chose was straight from their Instagram page. When it was time for the design, my nail tech attempted at the design, but it wasn't really what I wanted so she said she would get the nail tech who actually did the design to work on it. I think the picture speaks for itself (left - their IG picture, right - what I got). I said I wanted more of the orangey color, but he kept adding more pink/purple. I didn't want to keep making suggestions/requests because I could tell they were getting annoyed with me, so I just let them finish the job because I had to leave.

I felt like they might've thought I was being difficult about the shape and colors I wanted, but if you're paying $70 for a service, you want them to come out the way you envisioned.

Needless to say, I won't be returning. It was a disappointing experience  My pedicure was good, and my nail tech was friendly (until I said I wanted the other nail tech to try the design - then she kind of just went cold on me), but besides that... it was not a good experience for me.

2 stars because the pedicure was fine, but I feel like they weren't listening to me and losing patience with me even though I was paying for a service.

I was pleasantly surprised as I booked last minute and was able to get what I wanted. My nail tech was very nice and took her time so my nails looked nice. She did amazing. I might have to keep coming here

I visited this salon on a trip out of town to visit relatives. I wasn't totally thrilled with my nails as it looks like one hand is longer than the other, and the shaping was a little off. However, I was not happy with the person who did my manicure. They noticed that I had done my manicure at home prior, and was making comments about how "it was better when he did it" and "look how much better it looks than when you did it." I had mentioned to them that it was difficult to get to the nail salon on a regular basis as a SAHM (both time wise and financially) and his response was for me to do a better job of getting to the salon. I won't be going back here next time I am in town on account of my experience with this nail tech. I felt guilty enough about allowing myself to go get my nails done professionally this one time, and I felt even worse after.

Great service, super friendly always. The gel manicures last usually 3weeks, other places usually chip after two.
