D'nena Dominican Hair Salon in Tucker, GA

Im from Atlanta but haven't lived here in years and was reviewing different Dominicans salons and I'm glad I decided on this one I'm veryyyy picky when it comes to my hair and Nena did an amazing job. I went in on a Monday around 12 and I was the only person there. Nena was friendly and professional. She also asked me what side I wanted my part on which was a plus because a lot of stylish don't. I would definitely go back to here.

So they took out the 'drying bench' and now it's regular chairs like other salons. Whenever I come here I get through straight away. I've been told it gets quite busy on a Friday and Saturday. Nena does my hair and handles it with such care! She doesn't drag it and pull it out when doing a wet comb like my previous salon. She's very friendly and humble. The other lady (Patricia I think), is a sweetheart, though she's never done my hair. I pay a little more at this salon than I did at my last one, but it's worth it. Parking is easy, and the salon is clean and spacious. My hair looks so good and healthy when Nena does it. I definitely recommend

D'Nena's Dominican Salon is one of 3 Dominican salons I've used since residing in Atl. Back in my hometown of NY a lot of women of color rely on Dominican Salons. So naturally I had to find one in my new neighborhood. The location is easy to get to & the hair services they provide are exceptional & reasonably priced. I've been coming since April 2016 & the owner D'Nena does my hair. She's effective & good at what she does. I also appreciate that she doesn't use a flat iron on my hair, even w/out me telling her not to. I realized a lot of the Dominican Salons who mostly seem to migrate from NY to GA are using flat irons now, when they don't typically use them in NY. I was told by a stylist that is a demand amongst their Southern clientele. It's interesting considering some people complain that Dominican stylist use a lot of heat. But to each his/her own. I'm satisfied w/ the quality of my hair.

I gave an extra star because my hair was clean and straight. No style whatsoever though. Is this Atlanta?? I was visiting and anxious to have my hair done in Atlanta.... I was disappointed.

Styling- Does very basic, almost granny-ish styles. I only go for the straightening, and when I get home I wrap/ pin-curl my hair to get it to look the the way I want. Other than that, my hair usually ends up bouncy and shiny. : ) Salon- I agree with the others about the uncomfortable dryer bench. I mean really, the bench is never full (and i've gone on Saturdays) so I don't see why she won't/didn't get separate dryer chairs. When I think about that it makes me roll out my Pibbs and roll my hair myself. Other than that the salon is nice. Nena- Very nice personality. I visit this salon about once every two months.
