Costas European Salon in Salem, NH

I've been going to Costa's for over 10 years and they are excellent. Their prices are more than reasonable and they treat everyone of their clients like family. I love the banter between Diane and her husband Costa. There are people of all ages that go to their salon. I've never had a bad haircut.

I could not agree with you more Marjorie!!!!! They absolutely treat all of us like family. I have never left the studio being upset with their work. They are wonderful!!!!

First of all, I was completely shocked to read the previous review of this salon. I have been coming here for 6+ years and so has my entire family, e.g., mother, husband, kids. My whole family is high maintenance and I'll be the first to admit it. I have very high standards for hair and have difficult hair to work with. Dianne, Costa, Anthula( sp)? Are all so talented, they have been cutting hair for years and could easily charge WAY more money. There was a time years ago when things were tough for me financially and Diane never charged me what she could have. To her and Costa, the salon is not about the money, it's about relationships. Everyone who walks in is treated like family. Really, I usually stay later to talk and walk out with a $200+ Newbury street haircut for an extremely fair price. Seriously, I grew up in a fancy town and have traveled a bit and gone to many different  stylists and salons in my life. This salon is off the top great, with wonderful, talented and caring people working there and running it. They have had the same customers for years, and it's not like they are the only salon in town, but I my opinion, they are the best! The previous reviewer ( not that I am judging) should have their head examined. This place is #1 for me. If Diane was not such a talented hairdresser, I would nominate her to run for public office.

WORST haircut I have ever had! I was told my appointment was at 9.30. When I arrived (on time) She said I wasn't scheduled till 10. I said "no problem, I can wait." She insisted on squeezing me in to get started before her other client arrived. Therefor everything felt rushed as well having to wait for her to get her other clients color on while I sat dripping. Very little communication was accepted about how I wanted it cut. She did show me a photo and I agreed on that look with a couple of changes. Before I knew it, my hair was way too short to achieve anything like the look. When I told her it was too short she said it needed cutting because it looked "scraggly"!  The cut was all choppy and uneven on top of being too short!!!
Had to go elsewhere 2 days later to try and salvage this huge embarrassment.

If you are looking for a spa experience this is not the place for you.  If you are looking for a great haircut/color at a great price then this is a MUST stop!!! Its very busy and sometimes chaotic BUT would you rather eat in a restaurant that has no one in it?  I think not!!  The owners are genuine and not uppity they make you feel like part of their family.  Highly recommend this Salon.
