I would give zeros stars if I could! They have a CASH ONLY SCHEME to avoid paying taxes! I started going here a year ago from a referral since I moved to Maine from California. A few times they were decent but literally my nails would always break/crack or the polish would chip/ peel off. It was such an inconvenience to go back to them a day or just days after my nails were done. Also, I was charged for the nail repair every time even if it was the next day!
My last experience at this nail salon was the worst by far treatment I have ever received at any nail salon in my life! I went in for a fill-in and requested for that he added a thicker layer over my nails that he had filed so thinly the last visit! He then refused and said, "I don't trust him" which I responded , "That it's not about trust. I am going on vacation to Italy tomorrow and the fact that the last several times I had gotten service, my nails have broken the next day. I don't want this to happen again, it's about customer service." He then refused and told me that he would no longer complete my nails and to have a nice vacation. I was completed stunned and humiliated in front of the entire salon but I left with class.

A nail salon named after a surf shop, huh? A nail salon in a random neighborhood of Ellsworth? A strange place to have a nail salon but this is clearly the best nail salon in the area. Well appointed, clean, and quality. I don't know anything about nails but I can notice professionalism and a pretty nail, especially after seeing rushed and poor work at nearly every other nail salon in Ellsworth and the Blue Hill peninsula. We were so lucky to be able to walk-in but it is a rarity we have learned to get in without a reservation, but a rainy day was our friend. They were brisk with their work with back-to-back reservations, barely taking breaks like a well-oiled machine. Highly recommended for their quality, work ethic, and competitive pricing. CASH only though.
Great experience and the nicest people. Fair warning, they only take cash or check. After a nice pedicure, very relaxing with hot stones, I went to pay with card and no. No cards. I had an appt 10 minutes from there so couldn't just run to an ATM. "no problem, come back when you can." What! Never happen in my home town. Went back later and thanked them. Lovely, clean and nice folks.
Always a great experience at this salon. Prices are fair. Not luxurious by any means, but they get the job done.
