Bridal Beauty Detroit On Location Makeup & Hair in Livonia, MI

I needed hair and makeup services for professional portrait and headshot photos. Sylvia was recommended by my hair stylist. Sylvia responded very quickly to my inquiry and arranged everything to fit my schedule. Cher came to my house and did the perfect job on my hair and makeup! It was more expensive than other options, but I was very pleased with the results.

I gave Sylvia and team a chance when i went in for my trial. I had an idea of what I wanted and a list of things I wanted to avoid. The girl refused to listen to me and pursuaded me to go through with the things I specifically did not want (airbrush, flowers in hair, etc). Though I didn't feel listened to, I felt like they did a decent job. So, as the bride, I hired the team on for my bridal party and before signing the contract, I called Sylvia to talk through some of my concerns. I originally felt listened to and felt like we were in a good place to continue going through with them. Boy, was I wrong...on the day of my wedding, the girls came in flustered and asking for food/drinks that I specifically purchased for my bridal party. Not only that, the entire morning was a disaster. Some girls already had full makeup on and the team forgot to airbrush beforehand. I had girls that were criticized for their hair being either too thick or thin. Some girls were criticized for their skin (and when I say criticized, I mean publicly humiliated to the point that they ended up in tears). The hair and makeup was less than sub-par...it was awful. My entire bridal party went upstairs and redid their hair AND makeup to their liking. While Sylvia and team were hired on to make my girls look and feel absolutely beautiful, they did the complete opposite. Though my wedding day was the best day of my life, I am still sickened that my closest friends and family had to suffer through this experience. I even had a conversation with Sylvia after the fact to, again...talk through how I was feeling...to give her, yet again, another chance. And all I received in return were condescending remarks and apologies that backfired (i.e "I'm sorry you had this experience, but my licensed estheticians do what they can...if hair is too thin, they can't just miraculously add volume..."). I'm sorry but if you're a licensed esthetician, you should know the tricks of the trade and add volume where possible - don't just tell the person you "can't". I had 8-10 girls getting their hair and makeup done that day...and if neither of them had the perfect hair or faces to work with then I am not sure what talent this team has. I am sorry to have to write a review like this but I am even more sorry that I hired a team that, I thought, had potential yet completely mortified my bridal party. Please pay attention to all of the signs, if in doubt...move on. I based my selections on reviews and a recommendation. Thankfully my wedding planner, who recommended them, will never refer them in the future either. Yes...it was that bad. Oh ps...if you do use them, don't get eyelashes because they will fall off before it's time to walk down the aisle.

I'm so happy that I chose to hire Bridal Beauty Detroit for my wedding day! Sylvia, the owner, was so kind and responsive from the moment I first inquired, and through the whole process she always seemed to be one step ahead of me-- I would think of a question, go to my inbox and find an email from her addressing exactly that question! She was abundantly communicative and I always felt that I knew exactly what was going on and what my next steps were. After my trial with Kim, I knew that both my hair & makeup were going to look amazing on my wedding day; what I didn't know was how much fun we were going to have with the Bridal Beauty Detroit team! From the moment Kim, Christy, and Elizabeth showed up at the hotel, the suite was full of laughter and conversation. They arrived right on time and I was amazed by how quickly they were able to do high-quality work: they kept us right on schedule, and everyone looked beautiful. Kim helped me relax with a much-needed scalp massage before she got to work on my hair, and even though I had completely changed my mind about what I wanted since my trial, she was able to create exactly the hairstyle I imagined. She was so warm and supportive, and really eased my stress and helped me stay calm and relaxed. I also can't commend Elizabeth's skilled makeup work enough; she is truly an artist and made every single person (all the bridesmaids, my mother & my husband's mother, and me!) look and feel absolutely beautiful. We were sorry to see these ladies go when they finished up, and I feel so lucky to have had them as part of my wedding day. I loved working with Bridal Beauty Detroit!

I was very disappointed with Bridal Beauty on Location. I felt that they weren't flexible with our requests and frankly weren't very good. For example, a friend of mine wasn't satisfied with the first attempt at her hair. Full disclosure, she brought a photo of only the back of the style, rather than a photo of the front. I can appreciate that may be difficult. However, when the hair stylist was asked to change it, she just said "I'm out of ideas to be perfectly honest," upsetting my bridesmaid and frustrating the rest of us. For my hair, I has to walk her through each curl to ensure the style worked -and it was a very simple drop curl style. I do it every day for work. Sylvia has a poor attitude and made me, the bride, feel rushed during the trial and on the wedding day. I wasn't happy with the face coverage and wanted more make up, and she was reluctant to oblige. In the end, I took over and did some of my own make up. She took before and after photos and said "hm, I wonder if it looks any different." Small, sarcastic quips like that filled the day, as did arguments with me and my still photographer. All in all, it was disappointing. I would not recommend this company.
