All About Nails in Cottage Grove, MN

I must admit that the only reason I am giving this establishment a one-star rating is because the staff was friendly. It has been approximately five years since I last had my nails done, so I was quite excited about this experience. I visited this salon twice. My first visit was in January, during which I received an acrylic nail manicure and a pedicure. (The pedicure turned out to be the worst decision I made.) I had made a reservation two weeks in advance, but unfortunately, it did not seem to matter upon my arrival. I had to wait approximately 30 minutes before someone was able to attend to me. Additionally, the pedicure chairs were not functioning properly, as the buttons were worn out. Despite these inconveniences, the overall experience was decent. [However, I strongly advise against visiting this establishment due to its lack of cleanliness, which I will explain at the end of this review.] I was pretty happy with the technician's work on my acrylic nails, which is why I decided to give them a second chance. My second visit to the salon was attended by Tina. I arrived at 10:30 a.m., half an hour after they opened, and the establishment was already quite busy. I did not make an appointment this time because my previous experience showed that it did not make a significant difference. Tina was very friendly and accommodating. However, I felt that the service was rushed. The shapes of my nails were inconsistent, with some being oval and others almond-shaped. While I am not picky about such details, I believe it is worth mentioning. Additionally, I did not receive a massage or any other pampering treatment because Tina's next client arrived, and she had her sit next to me while her nails were soaking. This made the experience feel somewhat awkward and hurried. I wish I could share photographs to illustrate my concerns, but I am hesitant to do so as I am concerned about being recognized by acquaintances. However, I feel compelled to raise awareness about the sanitation issues at this establishment. I strongly suspect that I contracted nail fungus from this salon after receiving a pedicure. Upon removing the nail polish, I discovered that one of my nails had lifted from the nail bed and was partially falling off. After reading numerous reviews, it appears that the salon has a practice of reusing single-use items. I looked up the inspection report of this establishment with the Minnesota Board of Cosmetology and found that it had nine violations as of January 3, 2024. I am disappointed because I would love to support local businesses. However, when there are significant health risks involved due to improper sanitation procedures, it is concerning. As a result of my experience at this particular salon, I now have to deal with the situation of how to get rid of nail fungs. It is worth noting that I have never had any issues with my nails or nail painting in the past five years until this incident.

Very disappointed in my service today. I had to get my fingernails and toes nails taken off. My toes are all cut up and done wrong. Some technicians need to go back to school or if nails aren't meant for you just Dont do them as a profession. I'm in so much pain from my service I have been crying for the last 2 hours.

Friendly ladies as always- 2 stars for that- but I'm concerned about the sanitation of the place. They are busy- super busy. We made an appt. Got there with all the pedi stations full and nail stations half full. Waited for about 20 min til some stations open up. Other patrons kept coming into the salon also saying they had appts in which they also had a wait. What's the point of making an appt then? The lady who did my nails worked so fast and as I looked at her instruments that she was using on me - left over skin on her cuticle clipper that she quickly wiped off and then proceeded to use on me. Same with the lady who did my nails. Just not comfortable with how busy they are and the process of sanitation. I'd hate to get an infection or worse, have them use an instrument on me that had clipped a hang nail that bled and then was used on me. Won't be returning.

First time customers trying All about Nails. Mother's Day gift for mom and well worth it! Great service... Cece And Kelly were awesome! Priced right, nice atmosphere! We will be back.

I am so disappointed with this place right now... I have had pedicures here for years and have recommended to friends. I brought my 13 year old daughter in a few weeks ago to get her nails done for a special occasion. She got the dip polish and the person that did her nails was amazing! She said if she wanted to get them taken off in a few weeks to come back and the can Soak them off. So today was the day to take them off. We went in, asked to get them soaked off. The lady that removed them clipped them and POPPED them off. I asked if they should be soaked off and she didn't answer me. My daughter looked sad and wouldn't say anything when I asked if she was ok. When they were off she buffed her damaged nails and that was it.. I paid and we left, my daughter immediately burst into tears. It hurt and her natural nail is destroyed. We went in to get them removed PROPERLY! I went home and google how to remove and you should SOAK them off! Never peel or POP them off. I figured out the person who did this is the OWNER!!! Tina should know better. I am so disappointed and mad that my daughter had to experience this...
