6th Avenue Salon in the Avenues district of Salt Lake City is a hidden treasure. I've had my hair cut by Austin twice now over the past couple of months and these cuts have been the best cuts I've ever had. I wear my hair quite short in a sassy, tossled look. Austin uses scissors and a straight-edge razor - he is a rare stylists that knows how to use a razor to great effect. I'm a very happy girl! Four stylists are available to you. You will be welcomed with a friendly smile and "hello." Prices are surprising reasonable, so be generous with your tips. You will not be disappointed.
This is the first review I've ever written, but I take a journalism class in school and thought this would be good practice! As a teenage girl who considers myself "no fuss" in every way, my mom talked me into going and getting my hair trimmed (it's all the way down my back and I refuse to cut it short!) I was nervous I would have too much cut off, but Austin asked me what I like to do with my hair, and how I would dress it up when I want to. He gave me some ideas of other things I might do with it, and I liked his idea of getting some subtle layers around my face, and he made it look so natural. It makes putting my hair in a pony tail NEXT LEVEL now without adding to my 30 sec morning routine before school! Lol! He sure knows how to give a girl some confidence, but it didn't come off as fake. I'm not a talker, but he made me laugh. He has such a fun personality! I actually enjoyed getting a hair cut and I love the way I look! I definitely trust Austin cut my hair again!
I've been going to Gigi and Austin every month for about a year. I get my hair cut VERY short for a woman, and this is the first place that both doesn't charge $60 for a women's cut AND doesn't make my scalp break out from using clippers. I go in, they are always on time, and they- no matter what my stress level is like when I walk in the door- they always get me in a happy, "feel good" mood! Austin's energy is just what a tired mom can't do without!! I love how professional, but non-pretentious Austin is (love you too, Gigi!) and he remembers exactly how I like my hair/what my "hair goal" is. I have "hair growth" issues and Austin sincerely makes me feel hip and fabulous and is so encouraging. Conversation is always FUN and I look forward to not just doing some self care for myself, but to see these wonderful people!

I made an appointment an hour before I was going down there and walked in and waited for 25 minutes. After which then they said I didn't even have an appointment and begrudgingly said she could still cut it....
