NY Studio 108 Hair Design in Ithaca, NY

This was a pretty miserable experience getting my hair cut. When I arrived, the receptionist was very rude and didn't really seem interested in helping me. I then waited almost an hour to get any service, even though it wasn't busy when I first arrived. Then when getting the actual cut the stylist refused to listed to my requests. I wanted it shorter but they told me it was short enough. I got the feeling that they cared more about hurrying me out than me liking my haircut. I would absolutely not go back there and I would recommend anyone in Ithaca to find somewhere else to get their hair cut.

I've been getting my haircut here for 20 years, it's where I go in Ithaca for a modern men's cut. Bob and Wayne are amazing at their craft. Is the studio busy if you walk in with no appointment on a Saturday morning? Of course; that's the price you pay for going to a decent salon with no appointment. I've always called ahead to schedule an appointment and have always received the stylist's undivided attention. As for not getting the cut I asked for: a haircut is a look, it's visual. I've found through experience, if I'd like to look a certain way, rather than describe the hair cut using my hands and words, I bring a picture in of how I want to look. It helps the stylist know exactly what interested in. I recently had 24" removed and Bob made me look EXACTLY like the picture I showed him, he even stopped and double-checked it a couple of times during the cut to get it right. They are COVID adapted and it felt safe: only a single client at a time and all the tools came straight from the disinfectant at the start of the appointment. Oh, and they are local af, the owners live here in Tompkins and work at their own businesses.

Fantastic salon, easily accessible in Collegetown. All the stylist are great and they do very good cuts for affordable prices. They have a special on Sundays for $16 a cut for short hair, which is extremely affordable. Highly recommend asking for an appointment, as it is not uncommon to get several walk-ins at a time and then you have to wait for your turn as opposed to just arriving at the scheduled time.

Depending on when u come, they might rush you through sometimes. That's why I would rather get a haircut in the Commons than in Ctown.

The process of cutting hair was so quick, but it was not as gentle as I would expected - the way they use combs was terrible. And after the haircut, they did not wash and dry my hair. I left there with hair trimmings inside and around my ears, on my neck and face.
