Every reviewer for this guy seems to think he is the second coming of Paul Mitchell, but I would like to be the lone dissenting opinion because I based my decision to go there on the completely glowing reviews and I was disappointed so I want people to know it isn't all wine and roses at the Asylum.
Meh. He wasn't cheap and I didn't really get what I wanted. I thought hard about whether or not I should write this review because I let him talk me out of what I wanted and I have to take some responsibility for that because I agreed to it, but when I left his salon my feelings about what he did to my hair were MEH. It wasn't awful, just extremely boring and not what I wanted. It would be one thing if he talked me out of my vision and then left me feeling WOW about my hair, but I just ended up this super mousy bland color. For 85 bucks I expect a little zing, and he just didn't do that. I think he may cater to an older clientele.

I came here to Scott and Akis years ago, what seems like many moons ago when I was a young adult. I always loved the welcoming vibes from this warm, quaint salon and how sweet both Scott and Akis were.

I respect Scott and his honesty, wanting my hair to be healthy- when I was young and I wanted to highlight or color it, I remember him vividly saying no because I had beautiful hair and then finally reluctantly agreeing to it.

I went to Akis for many years before he moved on and he was a kind soul who I thought of fondly, almost as a friend- I trusted him to chop off 10 inches of my hair and I was one of his first hair color clients.

I drove to The Asylum for years from NJ! It was a four hour drive in the car each way but I truly trusted Akis and it took me many years to find someone else who I like as much as him...

I just wish I lived closer and could visit Scott now that Akis moved on. He really wants your hair to be healthy and for you to look good and not spend a fortune. The Asylum is a sacred, special place and I miss Scott and Akis very very much!
