SunSpa Salon in Middletown, NY

Still a customer of hers ! She takes her time & is meticulous about getting the wax job done right,also she makes you feel very comfortable .so if your new to waxing nothing to fear . I've gone to many other places and have had horrible experiences . I still highly recommend her to anyone looking for all their waxing needs . As I said before "best Brazilian in Orange County" Just had a wax earlier today . I'm so happy I found her & sun spa . Finally I found an awesome wax technician . Only took me years to find !! 5/5

I want to start by saying my stylist is great! The atmosphere not so much. I went to get a much needed color after the COVID-19 shut down. A client next to me was talking loudly about completely inappropriate topics. It was racist and offensive. I could not believe what I was hearing. I moved to another part of the salon, due to social distancing, and was now directly next to the that stylist. Turns out it was not her client that was being loud and offensive, it was the stylist! She had a new client, and the diatribe started all over again! I was so offended that I gave her a look. She tried to back peddle and then actually said that if anyone wanted to protest, it should be the "Indians!" After we took their land and put them on land that couldn't even grown corn! I confronted her after my appointment and all she did was roll her eyes at me. She argued that she was entitled to her opinion and then tried to tell me everything she said was true. I said that I would not argue politics with her, and that while she was entitled to her opinion, that this was her place of business and I was a paying customer and I shouldn't have to hear about her narrow mindedness. She was incredibly rude and disrespectful to my face. My stylist and the receptionist both apologized for her behavior. They said she also has a problem with gay people. I called and spoke to the manager or owner, not sure which. She told me that there was nothing that she would do. She was aware of this stylists behavior, but she insisted there wasn't anything she could do. I will not support a business that allows such behavior from their employees. I would never subject myself to that hate again.

Very very aggravating that they close for three and a half days a week. The only decent tanning spot in the area. I call at 3:20 and you say you stop tanning at 3:30 cuz you close at 4. On a Saturday and don't reopen until Tuesday. What the hell kind of business is that? Very disappointed

JUICY GOSSIP/ SO UNPROFESSIONAL I used to go to Sun Spa Salon a while back (2013). I had nothing but great things to say about this location until recently (June 2018). Katrina, a former hairstylist at this location use to do my hair. I stopped going to her for personal reasons in 2014. During the time I stopped going she started to do my ex sister-in-laws hair. During the time she started doing her hair I was sure Katrina had mentioned personal and private information I had shared with her in confidence (we didn't get along during this period). Things passed and that was just off speculation. While I went to this location I noticed many men got their hair cut by AMANDA who I really liked her and her cuts. Since Katrina's time at Sun Spa Salon a lot of things have changed. As you may have noticed I used EX quite a lot. My husband and I have gotten divorced. Katrina has opened her own Salon. Amanda remains at Sun Spa Salon. Amanda also happens to cut my ex brother-in-law hair which apparently is juicy gossip for both parties. I recently sent my boyfriend into Sun Spa Salon to get his hair cut by Amanda. During his appointment somewhere in between conversation my ex brother-in-law name was mentioned (we all do the same profession) which some how turned into my ex sister-in-law going to our mutual friends telling them on her daily gossip runs that my boyfriend asked for her husband's haircut. Let's all take a moment to recognize there are about a handful of styles you can ask for when a man has short hair. I know she thinks the world of her man but just because she does doesn't mean the rest of us do. I came to find out from, can we say mutual friends considering they are telling me everything? that right after my boyfriend left Sun Spa Salon Amanda somehow found it necessary to call Katrina immediately and out of coincidence Katrina was also doing my ex sister-in-laws hair at the time that my boyfriend had just been there. I am not sure why she found it necessary to inform her, nor do I know why she would care and 3rd of all how unprofessional is it to go around telling your clients business and false at that. I think everyone hates hearing false information but especially when you are supposed to be paying for a professional service. I didn't know we were paying NYT Magazine to keep others updated in our daily routines. So if you would like anything passed on from your personal hairstylist ask for Amanda, she gets anything and everything you say out in a timely manner.

If I could give no stars I would. I went in there and the woman at the front desk, a bigger woman with short blonde hair, was incredibly rude and had a completely unprofessional attitude. As I was getting my hair done I over heard her completely trashing other employees and talking badly about a client who had come in earlier in the day. As a mother, I looking forward to getting my hair done as a time to relax and enjoy myself and having to hear salon employees gossip and be rude to clients made my experience an unpleasant one. This was my first time coming to this salon, and I won't be coming back. I am not one to write bad reviews, in fact this is my first, but I felt compelled to after my experience. Keep the gossip to yourselves, if clients can hear you it's unprofessional and a bad feel for the spa.
