Spruce Salon & Spa- AVEDA in Wall Township, NJ

Jen did an amazing job cutting my hair!I always assumed that a guy's haircut was easier than a woman's but learned from a few stylists that it is actually more difficult to cut men's hair. In the past a lot of stylists had a difficult time blending the sides. Jen is amazing!

For anyone wanting to get any type of waxing here, I strongly urge you to reconsider your decision. I mean this review in the nicest way. No bad blood here! But it's important that people know what they're getting into as well as constructive criticism for the owners. I got my eyebrows done on September 4th. I usually go to a girl named Rachel but I found out when I arrived that she had since moved on (good move on that one!) For the day, I had an appointment with a woman who was "filling in" for the girl who normally does waxing, Nicole, who is fresh out of cosmetology school and works twice a week. Elena, the girl who did my brows was instructed to shape them and clean them up. I have gone to Spruce on multiple occasions with eyebrows very grown out (I have extremely light eyebrows) and Rachel made them look better than ever. Upon sitting with Elena, I discovered that she was filling in for Nicole and used to do eyebrows at a full service salon (a salon where you do everything from hair to nails to toes) but she is truly at Spruce just to do hair. That should have been my cue to leave....someone doing eyebrows that isn't specialized in them? She proceeded to wax my tail off and my arch off. Upon looking in the mirror, I was horrified. I immediately went to the front desk where I spoke to Catherine and the owner Jackie. Jackie first began to say that Elena had clients all morning and there had been no problems. (Very smart thing to do as an owner is to blame the client!) She then proceeded to ask me if I had come in with some sort of "problem" as to why my eyebrows now looked like thin, wet, banana peels. (Again, insinuating blame on the client.) She offered me a free brow pencil and a facial... (the least she could do) and said that Nicole could take me at 9:15am on Tuesday for a brow lamination and tint. The funny thing is, Catherine ends up calling me the morning of the appointment at 9am to let me know that Nicole already has an appointment at my scheduled time and she has "a little time" to fill me in. (Mouth drop here) Nicole has "a little time" to fill a client in whose eyebrows were waxed off and left with no shape or arch? How lovely! I ended up going to my old girl Rachel the same day and receiving THE MOST amazing brow tint and lamination. The little eyebrow I have left, she saved. Moral of the story; have someone take care of clients that knows how to perform the service. Example: I wouldn't ask a hair stylist to change the oil in my car. Eyebrows are an art and should be treated as such!

I had moved to the area almost 2 years ago and tried several salons in the area. I finally found Spruce Salon and their stylist Rikki. I can't say enough about the services I have received from her. I had worked in the industry for 15 years as a Salon Mgr. so I know when I find a good Salon. Everyone is super friendly and accommodating and the color and cut I get each time is beyond excellent. If you are looking for a new salon, I highly recommend SalonSpruce!!!

I feel bad writing this because the girl who did my hair is a very nice person but wow did my hair come out awful!! I have been getting my hair professionally colored for 30+ years and I have to say this was one of my worst jobs I've ever had. I did not want to return to have her fix it because I was afraid to have her touch it again. The salon was nice and the employees were nice but I spent 4 1/2 hours there and it wasn't cheap to have my hair color ruined. It's Orange. Not blonde. She also cut a lot more off than we discussed.

My first facial with Rachel and it will not be my last! Best 1 1/2 of the day:) not only was it Relaxing but she knew exactly what my skin needed and I couldn't be more grateful! Looking forward to my next...thanks Rachel!
