Plaza Salon in Yorktown Heights, NY

One of the hair stylists got distracted while doing my 17 year old sister's hair and ruined it. Then after she made the mistake she said the my sister's face that she would blame the mistake on her instead of fixing the mistake herself. If I could rate this 0 stars I would. Don't give this place your business.

I've been getting my curly hair cut by Mary Lou for several years. My hair has been through texture changes and thinning and she never fails to make it look its best. I've gone to many salons, some very expensive, for a dry curly cut and walked out disappointed. I've never felt that way after a cut with Mary Lou. She seems to be really intuitive with hair, listens to all my concerns and doesn't push anything. I feel completely confident in her chair and I've recommended all my curly haired friends to her!

I have been going to Antoinette for many years and she never disappoints. She did a beautiful job on my highlights. They check your temperature, sanitize after each person and follows safety guidelines. I highly recommend Antoinette!!

I still have nightmares about this place. I've been a costumer here on and off since I was a young teenager, then I decided to work for them for about 4-5 months before I just couldn't do it anymore. If you miss middle school drama this is the place for you. The majority of the hairdressers don't even like eachother, making it quite an uncomfortable experience. The two women who run this place are not the nicest and they often say terrible things about their customers once they leave. It's quite over priced for the service you receive as well. I've never been impressed with any of the hair dressers work. None of them truly want to be there and they make it KNOWN. The only nice lady is an older, outwardly racist, Asian women. She's the only person who ever made me, and a lot of other customers feel welcome despite her racist remarks. Most of those remarks are directed towards other co workers as well. Not a friendly place, certainly not a clean place. I highly recommend taking your business somewhere else.

A jewel! Okay, not a high-end salon; quite overheated on a July, hot-humid day; but since moving to Y.H.'s over seven years ago, and trying many of the 'local stylists' (read: stupid - expensive) in town, with horrible results, I hate the idea of having to continue searching for a good haircut; and as long as Plaza Salon offers value for services, I'm totally in! 'Cynthia', the stylist I happily stumbled upon, has now given me the two best haircuts I've had in years! She works six days a week, and I doubt that any other stylists push themselves so hard to do their jobs! Cynthia really seems to know her craft, and I feel confident about putting my hair in her exceedingly professional hands. Nothing any nobody's perfect, but I endorse and applaud Plaza Salon and Cynthia! This salon needs a lot of attention to make it acceptable in many ways, but I'm willing to put up with the discomfort, to get a great haircut from Cynthia! I HOPE THAT PLAZA SALON HEARS THAT THEY REALLY NEED TO RENOVATE, OR AT THE VERY LEAST, GIVE IT A THOROUGH CLEANING!! I understand that the JV mall is severely lacking in business these days, however the salon's owner simply must do something to retain customers. Everything about the place screams that it's not long for this world, but I'm hoping that it'll pull itself out of the flusher, and continue to provide Cynthia's top-shelf work for customers who so desperately need her! I recommend Plaza Salon and Cynthia, (I'm sure other's) and I truly hope they prosper in the future. All the best! Thank you!
