I started hiding the grey in my brunette hair when I was 35. Three years ago, tired of root touch-ups every month, I went blond. That helped hide the totally silver & white regrowth but I was tied to root touch-ups every 6-8 weeks. Encouraged by all the women who have "ditched the dye", I was curious about my natural hair color, how it would look and how I could transition to it gracefully. Sound familiar? In one session, Farah Hurdle, owner of Maida Salon, uncovered the real me with fabulous grey blending techniques and a fresh cut. I couldn't be happier! Thanks SO much, Farah!

Laura Finn is a lovely human being and an extremely gifted colorist! I cannot recommend her highly enough if you are thinking about a "gray transformation". My pandemic grow-out was a lot of silver-gray mixed with darker gray and my natural dark red. I have long hair so there was a lot to blend and you can't even see the line of demarcation where the newly matched parts meet my grow-out. I've gotten rave reviews and I'm really glad I did it rather than cutting it all off or waiting for it to all grow in. It's a long day and it's not inexpensive, but it was a FUN day thanks to Laura, who is really nice and funny and friendly. The process is really interesting and complicated, and it was really enjoyable to watch Laura doing work that she's good at and that requires a lot of skill. :) Also, Maida is a charming salon so it was a pleasant place to be for the day. Cate Miller! Wow. I'm obsessed with my hand tied extensions. She does wonders!!!! Completely safe during COVID and clean too, this salon is great.

Two words: Cate Lucas. Cate is such a wonderful person and an incredibly gifted, educated stylist. My first time with her she did an assessment and provided some tangible ways for me to improve the overall health of my hair. I followed her guidance (collagen, vitamins, no heat) and six weeks later when I sat down with her my hair was stronger, shinier, and I was so much happier! I decided to make the change from the heavy blonde highlights I had back to a medium brown and the end result is FANTASTIC! My boyfriend can't stop raving about it, my best friend says it's so trendy and stylish, and even the woman who I buy my donuts from says it is the perfect tone for my skin. THANK YOU, Cate, for making me feel more like myself and more "on brand" than ever! Also, I look forward to the two hours I get to spend with Cate. She is so funny and smart - she makes my day. Also, if you can't afford to tip well, please reconsider. This lady works so hard to keep her business afloat during multiple lockdowns and she is worth it. If your bill is $200, think of your $40 tip as paying $1.05 every day for six weeks to feel as great as you do because of HER WORK. Not that much, right? The only down side to this salon location is that parking is a drag so make sure you build in time to find a spot!

I have lived in San Diego the past 5 years and it took me 3 years and trying 6 hair stylists to find "the one"!!! Cate Miller is it, y'all! If you're looking for a magical artist to give you the hair of your dreams, look no further! Im super picky when it comes to my hair and I've been more than stoked with the results every time shes done it!!! She keeps my blonde looking natural (and the grow out is perfect...low maintenance which I love!) Also, my hair has gotten SO much healthier since I've been going to her.
