Dan is exceptional - I have been going to him for decades at this point and I couldn't recommend him highly enough.

I was looking for a drastic change, I found HTR on google made an online appt, which was seamless.  They accommodated me the same day which is a big plus with my schedule. My appt was with Dan, I was taken immediately, we discussed what I wanted and what he thought would work, he clearly had a vision, a cpl hours later viola! It was a relaxed atmosphere and Dan is definitely a conversationalist as am I.  Everyone was accommodating down to me borrowing a charger for my phone! I will definitely be back. Price point was good as well!

I've been going there on & off for years to get my Japanese Straightening treatment & occasional hair extensions. Had taken a break for awhile but returned there today. Same fantastic service as always!!! Dan the owner & his team are so kind & welcoming. It's nice to receive a five star treatment by a true professional without the pretentious attitude that you get in some other high end salons. Dan is a true expert in all aspects of hair treatment. My case today was a little more difficult because I wanted chemical straightening but I have a lot of bleach in my hair. Dan took every precaution to execute the treatment while still protecting my hair from damage. I know I will be back there soon & I would recommend them to anyone!

I have been a client for a number of years. I have consistently been treated with professionalism, the service are outstanding. I never fail to walkout of the Salon with my hair looking like the pages of a High Style Fashion Magazine. I have recently been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis,the medical treatments have taken a tole on my hair. I asked Dan to recommend products that would combat the issues. I did at this time make an appointment for a full service treatment full color high and low lights and a haircut. Dan took great care in creating a style that was very easy for me to maintain because some days I can't even hold a blow dryer. Michelle gave me some great tips on using a dry shampoo for body.I've been to the top hair salons in the world. While my current career doesn't take me to those locals. I really don't care. I have consistently received world class service, and a spectacular looking hair I have never received as many compliments on my hairstyles since I have become a client of Hot Tin Roof!
I read some of the reviews complaining about prices I don't know where in the tri state area they have had their hair done but I will swear on a bible that the Hot Tin Roof prices are fare if not extremely reasonable. Unlike other Salon's Dan and his staff realistically explain what you see in a magazine could be a look that will cost $$$$ to maintain for those women who have a budget that allows for that great. However Dan and his staff will make you look amazing with the realistic budget that many of us have.There are not enough words to say what a treasure this Salon is.

I've been to Hot Tin Roof a few times over the last several years and Dan is great at cut and color.  I was in a few months ago for a haircut and had a bad experience from the standpoint of their professionalism.  I didn't want to write a review but the experience still bothers me so I thought I would share:

1.  The girl washing my hair (didn't get her name) was singing the entire time and told me that she does it to get better tips.  A woman stopped by to give her a tip and, after the woman walked away, the girl washing my hair said 'can you believe $2 tips?  I guess it's better than nothing.'  
2. While Dan was coloring my hair he noticed that my roots were growing in and said to me 'girl, that's nasty!'  That really left me feeling like shit.  He also suggested putting a glaze on my ends *before* the cut, to which I responded 'won't it all get cut out?'  Not sure why I'd want to pay to have that done...
3.  Finally, while I was in the chair getting my hair cut I could see the small dog that is usually in the salon go over to the carpet and pee.  Gross.  To think of it, I've never seen anyone take that dog outside on a walk.    

It was a trifecta of incidents that made me sad and not want to go back.  I liked this place but it's gotten sloppy.
