Hokie Hair in Blacksburg, VA

I was worried about getting my hair cut in Blacksburg because of some reviews but I'm glad I gambled and went. Now, I usually know what I want so I brought a few pictures with me and tried to be clear on what I would like. Carrie cut my hair and did a really great job. She was super patient and was happy to make little changes when I mentioned them. 10/10 great experience. I went right when they opened and felt as if she really took her time to get the right cut, which, I appreciate. Other than that- just be clear with what you want (bring a picture!) and you'll be okay!

dont go if you have curly hair, they cut without brushing out or wetting and cut entirely too much off

Lots of room for improvement. My friend got a haircut here and he was left with uneven edges and barely trimmed hair. I had to youtube how to touch up hair so I can fix it myself.

I can't say enough good things about my experience with Hokie Hair today. I somehow got these enormous knots in my hair (like, bigger than handfuls) and made no progress on my own. I walked in and asked if they could help, and Miranda washed my hair and said she'd try but didn't make any guarantees. So she started combing on one of them (she was very gentle). There weren't any other customers at the time, so a second stylist came over to help with another part of my head. Then a third! Yes, I had three stylists all working to get these godforsaken knots and tangles out of my hair. All of them were very nice and very gentle. I was still convinced they'd have to cut out some of them, but miraculously, they didn't. I don't usually get my hair cut, but they convinced me a trim would be helpful. Miranda washed my hair again to get all the loose, untangled hair out. I asked if they had any water I could have, and one of them actually went to Joe's Diner for a cup of ice water for me. The cost for all this service was a modest $20. (I tipped all the stylists.) While I just had my hair trimmed and can't speak to more elaborate haircuts or color or anything, I was blown away at how kind, helpful, and efficient they were with my very tangled mess.

I should preface this review with the fact that I only get a buzzcut. I can't testify to the satisfaction of any haircut that requires scissors or a comb. With that said, this is the only place I've gotten my hair cut for the past 3 years. I have found nowhere that I can get an $11 haircut (cheaper for cadets) elsewhere. I'm usually in Blacksburg once every month or two and I will wait for those trips to get my trim. I have rarely had to wait, and even then, I walked up to the Campus Emporium for a while.
