Helen and Katherine are amazing! They are experts in Color Chemistry! They work with you, your hair to see what color is the perfect match, and you won't feel rushed. They also give a great hair cut/style! They are both so pleasant. Gentle washings and brushing hair out is a plus. I have a hair loss issue and they were very sensitive and caring in making me feel comfortable in the salon, assuring privacy by body and chair positioning. They both are wonderful with color and in their technique applying highlights and lowlights. If you are looking for a new salon, or even if you aren't, please try Hair By Helen! I moved to San Diego and was so scared to find someone who could do platinum well and I was overjoyed I found this place. Helen and her daughter are amazing and very talented! They do my hair perfectly every time! Highly recommend going here! Prices are affordable as well

I wanted something different for a while now and decided to go to Helen because of her yelp reviews. She and her daughter did not disappoint. They did an amazing job and I got a boost of confidence. I needed a last minute bang trim and Helen was very accommodating. But the amazing thing is that I also loved the cut! Helen is my new go to! She's super communicative and she is actually interested in understanding what you want. Highly recommend!!

This place is terrible. I had made an appointment the day before i went and when i showed up they acted very rushed and clearly did not care about the outcome of my hair. I did not expect this considering I made an appointment and even showed up early so I wasn't late or wasting anyone's time. I had asked for layers and curtain bangs that blended into them and showed her multiple pictures so she had a good idea on what I was wanting. However, she spent maybe five minutes on my whole hair cut and then washed and styled my hair which was not anything special and wasn't worth paying for. Hair cuts should never be that short unless maybe it's a trim but this was much more than that. She definitely did not seem to be using any sort of technique and automatically just chopped my hair and left it blunt and not blended whatsoever. I am not the type of person to leave reviews like this but this was just an awful experience. I have had to wear my hair with braids in the front of it for 2+ months straight to hide it (and still am & trying to wait for it to grow out) because it is that horrendous and doesn't look good any other way. this has totally shot my confidence for a few months now when i've always loved my hair. I feel bad writing this but I was someone who went because I read all these positive reviews but my experience was nothing like that. My advice is just make sure before letting them cut your hair they are not in a rush and are fully listening to what you want because the client being happy and pleased with the service and receiving not only what they wanted but also what they paid money for should be the end goal. I'm sure this is not what happens in most cases but just wanted to bring awareness to the salon and others as well. I will say the layers were not bad and she kept my original length like I wanted though. The issue was more with the "curtain bangs" that ended up looking like an abrupt cut or chop into my hair without any blending of any sort. I will also say i'm not sure if it was helen who cut my hair or if it was another lady who worked there. It was pretty rushed. Maybe I was one of very few who had a bad experience but from the other pictures it looks like most times she does a great job. No hate, I was just very disappointed with the outcome considering the money I paid for it and not everyone has the money to pay that same amount just to get it fixed. &I did try to give it a chance before I wrote anything but this picture is from today and has not grown out or blended into my hair like I hoped it eventually would. My cut was around March and still looks like this so I tried to be understanding and not be someone who left a negative review but my hair has not gotten better unfortunately:(
