Family Nail Salon in Torrington, CT

I love this place. Affordable and excellent service. I go here routinely for manicures and pedicures. You can make a reservation, but if they are busy I find it does not make much of a difference so you may have to wait for an extended period of time.

My experience at Family Nail Salon was absolutely HORRENDOUS! EMBARRASSING!
I went to have a full set put on with acrylic, and gel polish. The nail tech was and IS completely incompetent. She didn't know how to correctly size the tips on my nails, she used an excessive amount of acrylic, making my nails thick and lumpy, and she didn't know how to file my nails into Almond shape. When I asked if she could file them Almond shape, her response was, "What's that?". It took over an hour and a half just to put the nail set on and file, my nails hadn't even been painted. When I asked the woman how much longer, she couldn't understand, let alone answer me. It wasn't until another woman stepped in and took over to paint my nails. The gel polish was disgusting and layered on thick. As it dried, it got small bubbles. The staff knew I was upset and disappointed. The woman "in charge" tried to compensate the poor service with giving me a $10 gift card to come back LOL and charged me $50+ dollars for the service. I was told to come back and have everything re-done for "FREE" by Genesis, who apparently is the only COMPETENT NAIL TECH at this salon. This nail salon falsely advertised its services, by posting photos of nail work, done by ONE PERSON. I could tell the staff were a joke because other dissatisfied customers walked out that day too, not just me! If no one in this place is experienced and competent, let alone LICENSED to do nail salon services, then why do this HACK JOB to my nails? Not only did the staff at this salon waste my time, on the evening of an important event (which I explained to these individuals), but they had the audacity to charge me, knowing it was an awful job done. After 3 days, the gel polish was chipping off my nails, and after 1 week, the polish had completely peeled off both my thumbs. I normally never write reviews on places, but I couldn't let this terrible experience slide. The staff and business owner(s) should be humiliated and ashamed of themselves. Learn to hire appropriate professionals, charge your customers accordingly, and don't be crooks of people's precious time and money!
