Continental 109 Salon in Bronxville, NY

I went to this salon to fix a haircut disaster. Mark came very highly recommended to me, so I figured I would give him a try. The salon is clean, and everyone is friendly. Mark was very friendly and sat down with me to talk to me about what had gone wrong with my hair. He seemed to understand what I wanted and said he wouldn't cut much off, and that my haircut wouldn't be perfect because the top layer was too short and had to grow . He said he could connect the haircut more, so I thought that would be good. Unfortunately for me that wasn't a good idea for my fine curly hair. He connected the cut by making the top back layers as short as the top side layers, so now I have short layers in back too, which is really hard for me because my hair curls up so much. The top layers in back barely go down from the top of my head. I'm miserable. This cut set me back from my goal of growing out these layers. I wish I hadn't gone. The issue isn't only that I don't like the shape; it's that the layers are overall shorter and more difficult. The shape is also less stylish. It really has no style. I would recommend this salon for someone who has straight, fine hair like the person who recommended the salon to me. I would not recommend this salon for someone who has curly, fine hair. My hair type is apparently very difficult for hairdressers because they don't understand how my hair will behave once it's cut. It doesn't behave well when the layers are so short anywhere. Before this cut, I didn't like the shape of the back, but at least the layers didn't stick up to the sky. I just bought four hats to wear this spring and summer until my layers grow enough that they go down instead of up.

This is an awful place that use to be good many years ago. I agree with the reviews that are previously made about they efficiently get you in, and render very poor quality service. I was charged on three separate occasions for a full single process and the woman only colored my roots. I even had lines left on my head where the color never matched the ends. The colorist was suppose to be the best colorist I was told! The last time I went thinking that she was waiting for my hair to grow out a little more as she had said to color it, she made my hair so light on the roots it looked like I had colored it myself with home box dye. She never touched my entire head not even a glaze or combing through the color yet I paid for the full single process each time. They are chintzy and not at all polite. I gave them three chances to give me what I had paid for and they could not have cared less. Really listen to these reviews that are negative. They also say they are charging one amount to receive a service and suggest a simple procedure but then try and get you to do full heads of highlights to get more money instead. If you agree to get a whole head of highlights you might get courteous reliable service, I say might because I do not know if you would get any better service. I cancelled any further appointments. My hair looked absolutely terrible. I went back to the salon I was going to in New York and I am so glad I returned to them. It is sad what this salon has turned into. I was so disappointed as they are a local salon and I was trying to use a local place to support Bronxville.

Continental 109 is certainly efficient in getting people changed, in their chair, getting your money and getting you out the door. Kind of like an assembly line. It was my first time there, and I was sent a request for my credit card before my appointment. The hair stylist I had quickly cut my hair about two inches shorter than what I had wanted. We must have had a miscommunication, but she surely did not do what I had wanted from the cut. I was left in shock looking at my very short hair as the woman who cut it disappeared and someone else came right over to ask for my money. I cannot even recall anyone's face. They popped in and out of my line of vision guiding me here and there before I even knew what was going on. I went to the salon looking forward to feeling pampered and anticipated loving my fresh new cut. I left feeling horrible and hating my hair. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. It was, as I stated, efficient enough, but their intention did not seem to want the customer to leave feeling wonderful, but more like, move right along lady, make way for the next credit card.

I've used continental before and their service was very nice I recently went in for about 2 inches off and ended up getting 6 off. I don't know where the disconnect was but my hair now is much shorter.

I have been a customer of continental for 35 years, always looking forward to my services here! however, in the passed 2 months the service I have received has prompted me to enlighten customers and potential customers. One particular "hairstylist" gave me a haircut that I immediately was not happy with bc it was unmanagable. Followed with a phone call that was not returned and forced to go to another hairstylist bc said "hairstylist" usually doesn't perform haircuts, only color(only found this out AFTER she cut my hair). New hairstylist cut my hair and it was good and fixed the best she could. Went back 2 months later for a trim and she butchered my hair. As my daughters wedding is approaching, I felt compelled to continue going for my color with the same "hairstylist". She proceeded to leabe me sitting for more than the time needed, and when I needed to get up she told me to sit down. As I was being shampooed, said stylist came over and slapped dye on my eyebrows as I was being moved back and forth with my shampoo. needless to say that left me with caterpillar eyebrows that stained my skin so badly. After I was shampooed, no one came over to assist me with combing or brushing out my hair and I had to search for a brush. Poor service that resulted in me not being able to go back and it's such a shame bc I spent so many years here.
