Americana Salon & Spa in Roseland, NJ

Americana provided hair and makeup for 15 women the morning of my wedding. Belinda (owner) and one of the stylists, Xhilda, met us in the bridal suite at the venue and got to work creating beautiful hair styles and gorgeous makeup. Not only was everyone thrilled with the turnout but the two of them were a breeze to spend the morning with. We all laughed, relaxed and in general had a great time, which is what I was hoping to achieve the morning of my wedding. I could not recommend them enough.

I've been here twice and can't say either visit really sold me on this place. I've been happy with my hair cut, but really disappointed with the front desk staff, which will likely prevent me from coming back. I booked my latest appointment online, making sure to select the hair stylist that I visited previously. When I checked in at the front desk, I was asked who I was seeing, so I stated the name of who I booked with. After being stared at like I was an idiot, I was told there's no way that's correct because she doesn't work there anymore. Turns out I had been moved to another stylist and no one had the decency to call and give me a heads up. I then had to figure out where to go and who I was seeing on my own - which was awkward to say the least. The hair stylists are really nice and great at what they do, but the lack of organization and basic customer service overshadows that for me. A smile or "hi how are you?" would go a long way.

First time customer. I needed trim for a short blunt bob. So it was just around the bottom of my hair, no layers. Very simple. I had Xhilda who was super nice and told me she was a bob perfectionist. When she finished I pointed out that the sides weren't even. She disagreed with me and cut a few additional stray pieces. I left. Haircut was $80. I left Xhilda a $20 tip and the very nice shampoo woman $5. When I got home, I could see that it was clearly still uneven. I called and drove back to the salon and Xhilda still disagreed with me and cut a tiny bit on the longer side. Now she is acting annoyed and frustrated and I am feeling horrible for being difficult even tho I was very nice about it all. Left. Got home, STILL uneven. The next morning I called the salon at 8:15 and was told I could not come back that morning. There was no one who could fix it plus I would be charged more if someone else fixed it. I also told to come back in a week when the owner was back from vacation. very disappointed. Spent $125 for a bad haircut! I will never go back!

This has been my salon since it opened, and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Colorist Amy has been doing my hair for 35 years and has no equal. All the stylists are great also!

Xhilda came highly recommended from family who have been steady clients for over two years. I LOVE my hair!! Truly very happy walking out of this salon:) Xhilda was friendly, professional and actually took the time to listen to what I wanted. She gave her expert opinion and the outcome was just amazing. I had a full foil and haircut. Xhilda is super talented and has fresh techniques when it comes to her craft. The salon itself was very clean, modern and welcoming. Antonia also gave me the best hair washing I have had in years from a salon. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with this crew. The entire salon vibe was on point and Xhilda is now my new stylist. I'm hooked!
