Tropez Salon in Wilmington, NC

Today I came back for my second appointment. Haley once again did a fantastic job. She will go through every step of the process and ask so many questions of what you like.  The head massage is something I would pay for everyday. Lol.  I bought buy 2 get 1 free from the shu eumora line. It is fantastic!  Definitely my favorite place in town for a haircut.

My initial review unfortunately turned out to be inaccurate. Luckily I have a friend who does hair from my hometown who was able to tell me what was going on when my color completely washed out of my hair after the first wash. I am new to the area and was hoping to find a good salon with honest stylists. They put a demi hair color on my hair (while wet, after a treatment to close the cuticle) when I specifically asked for a permanent color change. Obviously, I did not realize what they were doing at the time since I am not a hair stylist myself. I asked to get it fixed, they set an appointment up for me then explained when I got there that they had used a Demi in case I wanted to go back to blonde easier. I am not sure why they wouldn't explain that to me or ask me if that was ok when they did it in the first place. I agreed to give them another chance and let them fix it by using permanent color. After the stylist mixed the color she brought me to the bowl. At this point I figured she was going to apply the color there and use a mobile heater on me and just rinse it out when it was done so that I could just stay there. She turned the water on and wet my hair at which point I immediately sat up and let her know I wanted the color to be applied to my hair while dry. She then called the owner over who then explained to me that they put color on wet hair because they believe it makes for a more even appearance while hair is damaged from previous bleaching. I let her know that I spoke to my friend who is an extremely accomplished hair stylist in Las Vegas who says she would never put it on wet hair because the dry portions soak up water before the color which causes patchiness. I asked them if they would put it on my dry hair and the owner said they wouldn't be able to make me happy so she gave me a refund. I left and my friend sent me professional color to do it the right way myself since it is a simple all over application. I did and it looks beautiful and has lasted multiple washes wonderfully. It is unfortunate that this happened but I am glad that I will be saving hundreds of dollars a year by doing it myself. If you have read this far and are like me and get your hair dyed, be aware of this and make sure you are getting exactly what you pay for, or find a way to do it yourself if you can't seem to find someone who will be honest and up front about what they are doing. And DON'T resort to box dye if you do.

I still believe Haley is a very sweet and talented hair stylist and works under dishonest owners of the salon and was just doing what she was told.

I am so happy I decided to come to Tropez after being unsatisfied with my hair for the longest time with my previous stylist. Haley is AMAZING. She took me from platinum blonde (with an orange band and dark brown roots) to the most beautiful ginger red color. My hair feels so healthy and the cut she did was just SO GOOD. The stylists at this salon are extremely professional and make sure you feel welcome and comfortable the entire time. They aren't afraid to ask for second, or third opinions from one another to make sure they give you the best outcome possible, and I honestly really appreciate that, because it shows they care enough to actually get you exactly where you want to be instead of just pretending that they are going to and never really do (which has been my experience at many salons.) This is truly the first time I've left a hair salon completely happy with my hair. I will recommend this salon to all of my girlfriends. Thank you Haley and the rest of the ladies that I met today!

This is my second time at Tropez salon and I just have to say when I leave this place my hair is nothing short of perfection. Maria is a magician, truly. I came in with red/brown hair and showed her what was my "dream" blonde hair inspo pic, well it wasn't a dream, it was reality when I left the salon today. I feel so beautiful and confident thanks to her attention to detail, patience and passion. 100/100 recommend Tropez!

Haley Fulp is an absolute GEM! best experience with her at Tropez! She gave me the best haircut I have EVER RECEIVED. I have naturally curly hair and she nails it every single time. She always makes sure I'm comfy, and goes the extra mile to make sure my service is preformed excellently (and it always is). I get my hair cut and colored by her, I will also pop in here and there for a blow out because she gives the best head massages and knows exactly how to style my hair with the perfect natural beach waves I love. If you are a curly girl, brunette, or just looking for someone that KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING, book Haley Fulp!!!

I left the salon disappointed, very sad, and in shock because my experience the 2nd time around was so different from the first time. At the first appointment I didn't get exactly what I wanted but I left happy. At the 2nd appointment I asked for more brightness around my face, highlights to be closer to my roots, and for the brassiness to be gone. Marissa said she did not want to add any new highlights, which was fine. I later realized she probably didn't want to do that because she was triple booked. She told me she was going to lighten the highlights I already had and that it would be a mixture of cool and warm tones because she wasnt going to lighten all the highlights, which sounded fine to me. My hair turned a neon yellow with the lightening process and I didn't like how staff responded to this. Everyone was whispering around me and gasping when they opened the foils. Nobody would tell me what was happening until I asked. They just continued to whisper around me like I was invisible. I was asked multiple times by different people if I swam, was on medications or changed hair products. I was freaking out the whole appointment because I felt like I was in the dark, didn't know what was happening to my hair and didn't know where Marissa was. I paid for an appointment with Marissa to do my hair but a lot of the service was done by other people who I'm assuming are students because they  were talking about scheduling their final practicum and said concerning things while working on me at the bowl such as, "I'm confused", "what do I do now", asking other people what to do next and specific instructions like how long to leave the product on for and what specific product to use. This felt unprofessional. I felt helpless because people who didn't know what they were doing were working on my hair. I also noticed my hair was falling apart, breaking to the touch at the mid section and ends and I could see hair flying off my head as Marissa was blowdrying it. The breakage wasn't addressed. I plan on going somewhere else now to get my hair cut. My appointment started at 2 and I left around 6 which is waaaaay too long.

Regarding the final color Marissa was very hands off about this and said, "I can't do anything about how your hair responds to the lightening. It's cool at the ends because that's just how you responded to the lightening. I can't do anything about this". I was upset nobody addressed how badly the appointment had gone. Then she had someone else curl my hair. I paid and left in shock.

The owner of the salon called me the following day, apologized and gave me a full refund.
